Water Margin - East Riding of Yorkshire

The food at this restaurant was terrible. We returned one dish and left two full meals uneaten because they were so bad. We were only refunded for one of the meals. The service was rushed and on top of that, they expected a £15 tip! We didn't pay the tip because the overall experience was unpleasant. We definitely won't be visiting this restaurant again.

Reviews invariably mention good service, and l wholeheartedly agree. However, we have been concerned to hear from more than one waitress that they have to hand over tips to management, and they receive no share of them. Neither, they say, do they receive a share of the service charge.

After enjoying numerous takeout meals from Water Margin and dining at the restaurant in the past, we decided to try eating in the restaurant again. We were disappointed to find that the restaurant had not changed at all since our last visit. The decor was outdated and in need of a refresh, and to make matters worse, the food did not meet our expectations compared to the high quality of their takeout meals. The lack of atmosphere and few other diners made for a lackluster dining experience, despite the efficient and polite staff. The owners of Water Margin should consider investing in updating the restaurant to attract more customers. For now, we will continue to stick with their takeout service.

Went to water margin tonight for a quick takeaway, I ordered pork ribs and fried scallops with asparagus, got home, the ribs had no meat on them whatsoever and the scallop dish i had only had two pieces of scallops smaller then 5p pieces, 4 strands of asparagus and the rest was just chopped onions and sauce! I rang up to complain and the manager was very rude, said I couldn’t have a refund n called me a liar! Definitely won’t be going again!! £15 for chopped onions

The food was great. Unfortunately the rest of our experience was not. We went out for a family dinner. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived. The service was incredibly rushed and it felt like we were being hurried to order and eat. This resulted in the meal not being enjoyable because it felt like we were being watched, the second I the last piece of food was off the plate it was being taken away. Wouldn’t return for an restaurant meal. Probably a takeaway.
