The Travellers Rest

The restaurant had small portions and low-quality meat. After finishing my meal, I immediately ordered food from a delivery service as I was still hungry. Despite making a reservation a week in advance and informing them that 2 out of 8 guests required a gluten-free diet, there were very few options available. The only reasons this restaurant received two stars were because the vegetables were tasty, though the portions were small, and the decor was nice. Additionally, the cider was cold. If it wasn't for my mother's birthday, I would have expressed my dissatisfaction more openly. I do not plan on returning, which truly reflects my opinion of the establishment.

This small village pub is a lovely, peaceful spot. The starters and main courses were delicious and beautifully plated, though my wife's steak wasn't quite hot enough. We were too full for dessert.

The hosts at this restaurant are fantastic and have a loyal customer base. However, some local workers believe they should be running the pub instead of the current landlords. The food, prepared by the landlord who is also a chef, is consistently excellent, especially during the fine dining evenings.

My first visit to this much vaunted establishment didn’t disappoint. Firstly the adjoining delicatessen offers wonderful fare at reasonable prices and reflects the restaurant/ coffee shop next door. Lovely rustic decor exposed brickwork, wooden beams and stone floor etc., The imaginative menu has great emphasis on local produce, and anywhere that offers afternoon teas for ladies and a separate menu for us menfolk gets my vote. The bar has a good array of draft ales and larger. Comfy settees for relaxing with a cuppa along with the normal tables and chairs for regular dinning ensure all tastes are catered for. The wood burning stove adds to a most convivial atmosphere, as does the warm and friendly staff, throw in complimentary WiFi and what more could be asked for ? I will definitely return to sample more from their extensive yet inexpensive menu.

The food at this restaurant is amazing and the atmosphere is lovely and friendly. It is a must-visit for dining out. The Sunday lunches are also incredibly delicious, some of the best I have ever had.
