Straddles Coffee Shop

The cafe at the back of the antiques centre is a little hidden gem. We had prawn and avocado salad and Yorkshire platter. Both were really tasty but a MUST if you do go is the Yorkshire platter. Friendly staff and Reasonably priced lunch. We’ll be back.

We have used this little cafe for years but it looked to have changed hands and isn't a patch on the old one. The bread was cheap, the bacon was cheap and fatty and they must be using the cheapest teabags they can find because you could barely get a colour to the cup! I think they would make more money if they bought proper back bacon instead of streaky fatty bacon and nice baps instead of trying to offer things on fancy sourdough bread and garnishes that people don't need. Stick to good wholesome basics which is what people want. It was a busy Friday lunchtime in the town and yet we were the only people in the cafe which obviously speaks for itself. Unfortunately it looks as though we will have to find somewhere else to eat next time we visit. Very disappointing.

Had lunch here 2 quiches 1 chilli con carne with baked potato. The young waitress took our order then brought our pot of tea.Dont know what tea they use but no amount of stirring the pot gave it much colour,weak and bloshy!We had to wait for ages before our meals came so our drinks were getting cold.The quiche was supposed to be ham and egg the egg looked like it had been scrambled before it was baked,there was a slice of lemon on the top of it(whats that about?)It came with salad/coleslaw and bread and butter.The baked potato with chilli also came with salad and coleslaw weird!Although it was waitress service we were not asked if we wanted any salad cream or mayo had to get up and help myself.Would definately not go again.

Brilliant home made soup. Great delcious sandwiches.value for money.nice people. Can't fault it.you could miss it as you walk down the street.

This is a down-to-earth cafe tucked away behind an antiques centre that merits being explored in its own right. We ate in the pleasant enclosed garden, which was a peaceful haven on a busy day. The food was generously proportioned, made from fresh, good quality ingredients and nicely presented. The tea was excellent. Staff were very friendly, although service was a bit hit-and-miss, with drinks initially forgotten. This was quickly sorted and the mix-up added to the non-corporate ambience. Value for money was good and we will visit again. Please note cards are not taken in payment. Also, it appeared to us that the cafe was called the Hideaway Cafe, not Straddles Coffee Shop.
