My go to place when in Cottingham. Love this cafe. The coffee is the best you'll get. For a light bite the cakes are delicious. Great value for money. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I visited on 2nd December with my baby and my friend. The cafe is quite small and so there are only a few tables. It was quite busy at the time so we sat at the table near the door with the raised chairs. There was a lovely clean high chair for my baby but it meant she was a little bit low down compared to us! The staff realised this and were more than happy for us to move when another table became available with more room in the window. Halfway through our lunch my baby suddenly became very upset (she was teething at the time) and was very tired so I needed to get her in the pram to rock her to sleep. This meant I needed to move away from the table in the window to an area with more room to rock her to sleep. The staff were more than happy for us to move again! We felt really bad for moving so many times but it can be really challenging eating out with a baby sometimes, especially a teething baby, but the staff were so kind and accommodating! Will definitely be back!

We enjoy going to Pearls for their variety of sandwiches, great pot of tea, and lovely coffee. However, on our recent visits, it was not the food that was the issue but the staff. Unfortunately, on our last visit, after receiving some distressing news, we found the blonde girl to be laughing and screeching so loudly that we couldn't even hear ourselves speak. This is not the first time this has happened, possibly the fourth or even fifth occurrence, but this was definitely the worst. While we understand the importance of laughter, especially during difficult times, we found it to be unprofessional and inappropriate, especially considering the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant at the time. We typically enjoy the laid-back and relaxing environment of Pearls, but the loud behavior of the staff was very off-putting. We may take a break from visiting for a while to give our ears a rest.

This restaurant is one of my absolute favorite spots in the world. The atmosphere and ambience are fantastic, and the food, especially the coffee, is top-notch. But the best part of it all is the staff - the owners are simply delightful. They embody everything that the word "lovely" was meant to convey.
