Contribuiți la feedbackThis was a lovely find. We booked to stay in the Tweeddale Arms across the road. The village was very quiet when we arrived. We flipped a coin to decide which place to eat and The Goblin Ha won and what a treat. The food was delicious and excellent value for money, lovely beers and ciders on offer and the warmest welcome and greatest service from Tomasz and the rest of the team. Thank you for making a special trip even better x
On Tuesday night in the peaceful village of Gifford, the Tweedale Arms was closed, so the locals gathered at this restaurant instead. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food and wine were delicious. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.
My partner, toddler son, and I went for a relaxed dinner on a Sunday afternoon and we couldn't fault the restaurant at all. The food was delicious and served quickly, clearly made in-house rather than reheated mass-produced fare. I loved the steak and Guinness pie, my partner enjoyed the fish and chips, and my son liked the kids menu. The food was good quality and reasonably priced. We all agreed we would definitely be returning as we enjoyed the meal - it's a great spot for a pub!
The welcome was friendly and the staff were attentive. The food was delicious two of us had the Steak and Guinness pie and the meat inside it was lovely, as was the pastry topping. Too often with steak pies in pubs and restaurants, the pastry topping hides a few bits of fatty, scraggy meat but not in this case, the pie of full of nice, tender beef. The other person in our party had the Beer battered haddock and said it was very tasty and the batter was crispy and delicious. We were too full for desserts but they did look tempting!! Would certainly go again!
We don’t eat out much but in the last few years have had lunch or dinner out a few times. Especially as have to take elderly relatives out for a treat. Most recently had come t o decision I would just in future buy sandwiches from M&S . The trend seems to be toward lego shaped cubes of unrecognisable treats such as smoked salmon ?puree? or last Xmas ordered turkey which had been processed and squeezed into a stocking shaped roll of which we each had one’slice’ I just couldn’t eat it!! Was recommended I try Goblin Ha in Gifford which was conveniently near a relatives house. Not expecting much. So what a surprise. Real food. Real soup. Real recognisable starter of prawn cocktail. Real main course. Haddock. Brilliant. Haggis delicious. Puddings yummy. Don’t know what the others ordered. I couldn’t finish mine there was too much. All perfectly cooked and presented . It wasnt expensive . £170 for 7 of us most with starter main and dessert. And drinks. (ordered one bottle wine) Don’t know how they do it. Has been ‘taken over since last visited few years ago. Unfortunately because of family circumstances unlikely will be able to go often but thoroughly recommend to anyone . The layout has also been changed and our young relatives were delighted to see 2 geese in comfy enclosure. Thoroughly recommend to anyone not just for value of money but for enjoyable edible food.
