Folly Downstairs - East Hampshire

Been there on 3 occasions each time the owner was in very drunk insulting customers absolute disgrace

Folly by name, Folly by nature ! I have been here for lunch a few times and it was fine, not great, but alright. However, last night, myself and five chums went for dinner. It was awful, the staff took our order, starters of 2 scampi and 2 whitebait to share amognst us, the scampi arrived and then we were told no whitebait, waited another 15 minutes for replacement of scampi. Mains were ordered, one of them being a burger requested as rare. 5 mains arrived, the rare burger didn't, my friend eventually got his burger literally as the rest of us finished our meal! We wanted to leave, but couldn't find any staff to pay our bill !!!! There was some sort of disco going on upstairs, maybe that was why staff disappeared, the simple fact is, if you are having an event, hire more staff.

We booked for a meal on Saturday 21January for 8 people ,first no Fish cakes which were 0n Menu meal was ok ,went to order desert and was told chief had gone home so no desert ,my husband wanted another beer and had to ask man on corner of bar to order . my friends came over from Guildford for my birthday very ,need more staff ?

I visited this establishment with my husband, daughter, and mother-in-law yesterday as a birthday treat. Unfortunately the visit was not as pleasant as we would have expected. Firstly, I booked a table for 5pm but when we arrived the lady behind the bar had no knowledge of the booking. This was not such an issue as the bar was not busy and we were able to find a table. However, she informed us that food would not be available until 6pm. I could not find anything on their website that says the hours of service for food. As we had our 2 year old daughter with us this was an issue as we had expected food to be available when we arrived. Secondly, when we ordered our food we asked for it all to come out at the same time. When the food was brought out the 3 small plates we ordered were missing. We waited to see if they would be brought over, but they were not. After 10 minutes my husband went up to the bar to ask where the rest of the food was. The man behind the bar said the food was ready and was on the side. By this point the food was stone cold. Also, the pie of the day was advertised as being Steak and ale but the pie that was served was chicken and ham. When we questioned this we were told oh yeah, it changes . This was not a helpful response. Thirdly, my husband asked the man behind the bar for some glasses of water. He said he would bring them over. He did not, instead he was stood playing on his phone. My husband had to go up to the bar a second time to ask for the glasses of water. Finally, when I went to pay the bill your bar man was once again stood playing on his phone. This does not present a good image of the establishment!! Also, I wasn 't told how much my bill was, I was just handed the card machine to pay. I was also unable to check the bill or check the amount. I emailed them to complain but did not receive a response, hence the 1* Tripadvisor review!

Amazing find ! Quirky and a great vibe, sat and had a business meeting staff attentive good food offering and if you go on a Monday and Tuesday it’s 2 course for £10 will definitely be returning. Keep up the hard work.
