Contribuiți la feedbackAs for the food, I ordered empanadas, which ended up looking somewhat like pierogi, but who am I to judge? I knew the chef had a solid reputation and had previously worked at Great Awakening, a place I’ve always enjoyed. However, despite my better judgment and as someone who knows how to fry food, I decided to try the empanada. Unfortunately, it was cold in the center, with cold chicken encased in greasy dough. Next, I got a bowl with pork carnitas, cilantro rice, lettuce, sour cream, and cheddar cheese. To my disappointment, it was quite crunchy. The texture of the carnitas reminded me of whip city beef Jersey, which I usually like, but not in my burrito bowl. I even added the sauce from my empanadas to try to add some moisture to it. It's rare that I wish I had just stayed home to smoke my salmon instead. I left feeling sad about the experience. On a positive note, my husband's portobello and sweet potato burrito was absolutely delicious, so take my review with a grain of salt. I’d consider returning solely for the service and drinks, but if the food disappoints me again, I won’t be back. I really wanted to enjoy your restaurant.
Honestly, the prices are outrageously high for what you get—average food served in very small portions. The wait for the food is also a bit lengthy, especially given the type of cuisine. On a positive note, the interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated.
We began our meal with the sazon rub wings, which were decent but could have benefited from more crispiness. For our main courses, we ordered the empanadas and the cilantro rice with shrimp street tacos, but unfortunately, the cilantro rice was forgotten, so we missed out on that. The shrimp in the taco was served cold, and when we inquired about it, we were informed that it is intended to be served that way. I believe that should be clearly mentioned on the menu before ordering. The empanadas were mediocre; they lacked sufficient chicken and didn’t have much flavor. The service was passable, but the staff wasn’t particularly friendly. I also noticed a couple of concerning issues: the bartender frequently checked her phone while on duty and was eating with her hands before preparing a drink with mint leaves, without washing her hands first. This could easily lead to germs being transferred onto customers' drinks.
