We opted for the steak and onions as well as the Cuban style shrimp dishes. Each dish came with soup, salad, beans, and rice - more than enough food for 3 or 4 people. I suggest ordering one meal and an appetizer to share for two people, and if you're still hungry, you can always order more. The service we received was top-notch.
We walked to this small restaurant from the Hampton Hotel the night before our flight back to California. We had visited New York and Boston and tried many of the restaurants recommended by Trip Advisor, but this hidden gem had the best food of our trip (and was the most affordable). My husband ordered the steak, rice, and beans and said it was delicious (and he is very picky about his steaks). I had the chicken quesadilla which was filled with shredded chicken and was also delicious. I also tried a unique pineapple smoothie that was different from the typical sweet smoothie, but was good and refreshing. The staff was very friendly (though a bit difficult to understand) and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The portions were generous and could easily be shared... perhaps two entrees for three people.
After dealing with the traffic around La Guardia, we returned our rental car and took a shuttle to our hotel near La Guardia Airport. We walked for ten minutes to reach the café. I ordered the "Coconut Fish" dish, which turned out to be one of the best grouper meals I've ever had (possibly the best). Rosa, our server, was friendly and accommodating. All the dishes are made from scratch, so if you're in a hurry, they also offer popular options from their steam table.
As the last review, mean man and I went to dinner to the laguardia cafe from the hampton inn. it was an excellent choice. we ordered steak and swirl and Cuban garnel. everyone came with suppe, salat, beef and rice. there was enough food for 3 or 4. my recommendation is to order a meal and an appetizer for two. if they happen to have hunger, they can order more. the service was superior.
We went in this small restaurant from the hampton hotel in the night before our flight to approx. we visited ny and boston and went to many of the restaurants that are close to or near the top lists of trip advisor. this little hole in the wall had the best eating our trip (and was the cheapest.) my man had the steak, rice and bor and said it was delicious (and he is picky about his steaks.) I had the chicken quesadilla that was filled with crushed bun and also was delicious. I also had a unique pineapple it was different than a typical smoothie. not so sweet, but good and refreshing. they also gave us some suppe on the house while we waited for our food. the personal was very friendly (a little challenging to understand) and went out of the way to make us welcome. the parts are quite large and could be divided. maybe two entrees for three people.
