This would be a 3 star rating if this was a restaurant, but as a club, it's worthy of another star.
We just completed a 10 day tour of the Quebec province and dinner here was a food highlight. The restaurant was recommended to us when doing a nearby winery tasting, and we were delighted when the server at the restaurant learned this and offered us a unique beer the restaurant developed in collaboration with the same winery. Tres bonne! The menu changes frequently depending on availability of local seasonal ingredients. Plenty of artisan beer choices as well as wine. Inviting, cozy local tavern atmosphere for dinner with friends or a date. Easy to converse. We enjoyed every dish we had. We tried the duck carpaccio, yum. My friend had the gnocchi and although I'm not a fan of that generally, it would convert me. Suffice it to say we all cleaned our plates & bowls and devoured the sauces. Finally, the lavender creme brûlée for dessert was lovely with the lavender pleasantly noticeable yet not overpowering. Although we were mostly English speaking, that was not a problem at all. Service was friendly and gracious but became stretched as the restaurant grew busier (we visited during high season). In exchange for a bit of a delay, the beer was complimentary which was a nice touch. We would love to return! Highly recommend.
Bright pub-like atmosphere, exposed brick walls, ceiling fans, option of eating on exterior deck or interior. New owners also own Brasserie Dunham, so there is a good choice of boutique made beers. The noise level picks up as the place fills for lunch. They are only open Thursdays to Sundays for lunch & supper. I had the curry soup to start which was excellent, while my wife had the house salad with a vinaigrette dressing lacking in any taste or spice. My wife & I both had the bavette de boeuf which was surprisingly tender & came with a 2nd house salad (also bland), plus French fries which were excellent. I tried several decent wines by the glass & found that generous portions were poured for around $7. Dessert was good & the coffee had character. Service was good throughout, but became a bit slow as the restaurant & deck filled up with customers. In summary, a pleasant lunch at reasonable price, I plan to return.
I have been to the restaurant about 6 times this summer. It is by far one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is outstanding, well prepared and inventive. Tonight I had a a squash dish prepared three ways and for my main I had pan fried gnocchi in a pesto sauce with mushrooms. My wife had deer tataki and ox tail ragout. Our friend had seared scallops and striped bass. For dessert, we shared a ground cherry pie and a brownie with special ice cream. The beer is from the Dunham Brasserie which is right beside the restaurant. Nice wine list and very well priced. The other outstanding feature is the wait staff who add an extremely important element to the overall dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys really good food.
