The Normanby Tavern - Dunedin

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it was very child-friendly. Normally, we frequent restaurants and bars in Dunedin, but coming from the Upper North Island, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, Normanby turned out to be a relaxing, friendly, and family-oriented place with delicious food, a great vibe, and impeccable cleanliness. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it. Excellent all around!

I ordered the steak rare, much to the chef's delight, and it was alright. The chips were extra crispy, which I appreciated. However, I felt that a small serving of coleslaw or a bit of salad would have added an extra touch and earned an additional point. While I'm not a strict vegetarian, having some colorful veggies on the plate would have been nice. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was prompt. The dessert was excellent. However, I noticed that the menu on this site needs to be updated, as the prices don't match.

I've been a long-time resident of the Valley, and this restaurant has always been my go-to place for family celebrations. They have consistently been very accommodating, and over the years, they've only improved, especially with all of us locals returning time after time.

It's standard pub fare, nothing fancy. But it is done really well, with quality ingredients and wonderfully cooked. To top it all off is a really nice atmosphere, with really lovely, friendly, welcoming staff. <br/ <br/ Perfect for a relaxed pub meal. I'll be taking family and friends here again!

Booked in with the whanau for a meal, 7 of us, sooo impressed. Friendly  service, hard case, Mum in her 80's enjoyed some good natured banter with the chefs, the meals are decent prices and proper homemade fare, all absolutely delicious.
