Marbecks Foodstore - Dunedin

This is one of our favorite places in Dunedin. Unfortunately though, recent price hikes and a slight change to the menu means that we will not be coming here as often in future. The coffee is now almost completely out of a same price range and sandwiches are now ludicrous in price

New chef is amazing!!!! Their food never disappoints and service is always fantastic. They have free sparkling water which is always a win!

On Friday 9th September I took my 9 year old grandchild to Marbecks for a lunchtime treat. He wanted fish and chips. (this child requires a gluten free diet for health reasons). I asked the young woman if they could do a half portion for a child. She didn't know so checked with the chef. On her return I was told that they were more than happy to do a half portion for a child but I would still be required to pay full price. As there was a long queue behind and my grandchild was present with me at the counter I chose not to challenge this.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I also thought it was an excellent idea to have the kitchen cooking hot chips in the afternoon as they were super nice. Definitely will come again :

I love the food and coffee here. Good selection with good prices. Layout of the place is great. As a local though I notice some of the staff don’t seem to stay on long so bit of a downside. On some Friday/Saturday’s this place is full of people and not a lot of staff.. (hence the 4 stars)
