While the atmosphere may not be luxurious, resembling more of a restaurant in a factory setting, the food is consistently delicious and generously portioned - you may have trouble finishing it all. The restaurant also offers around 10 complimentary tastings with the meal, making it a great value. Overall, I highly recommend this place for its exceptional value.
Probably my most favourite places to dine in the City. Aside from it being healthy, it is only occasionally crowded. Most of their customers are either Koreans or the selected few citizens that are aware of this gem existing. Highly recommend if you want to try something new and unordinary if you are not already familiar with Korean cuisine . Ambiance is so-so since it is partly a convenience store/home. Worth every penny if you ask me!
I have been dining at this restaurant for many years, usually at least once a month or more. I find that they serve basic Korean food that is focused on nutrition. The bibimbap is delicious and satisfies any vegetable cravings you may have, while also providing essential nutrients. The kimchi can be a bit too spicy for some, but it is manageable. The overall appearance of the restaurant is plain and somewhat unattractive, but the food is worth it. The grocery store attached to the restaurant offers a variety of Korean products such as dumplings, rice, and ice cream treats. For a nutritious meal in a culture that heavily relies on rice, fish, pork, and chicken, I recommend trying 153.
The portion size and variety of the bibimbop are excellent. Most of the other dishes are on par with typical Korean cuisine. They also offer a selection of good quality frozen products imported from Korea. The kimchi can be quite spicy and may look a bit rustic. Overall, if you're craving Korean food, this restaurant is the best option in the area.
As far as I know there are not many Korean restaurants in Dumaguete and it took me some time to discover this pearl of restaurants. Fish 153 is not only a restaurant, it's also a shop where you can buy Korean specialities. The menu is extensive and it took some time for me to decide between all the dishes. But the menu shows a photo of each dish which was a good help for me. Fish 153 serves a vareity of dishes that appeals to different kinds of tastes. They have fish, pork, beef, vegan, and noodle-based dishes. I chose the classical Korean dish Bibimbap. The portion was big and delicious. I was the only dining guest at the time but there were few others coming in and bought things from the shop.
