Went here for afternoon tea last Sunday with a few friends, we were very excited to try it! At €49pp we we had high expectations. Lots of choices of teas, I went for the strawberries and cream, which was a bit sweet after a while. The savoury starting plate was delicious! 4 differing options, each served on a different type of bread my favourite was the goats cheese and tomato! Then came the scones, still warm from the oven, we were given two each one plain and one sultana. We were all hoping dessert would live up to the rest and based on the artwork of Michael Flatly each reflected one of his pieces displayed around the room, but unfortunately I only managed to finish one of the four treats. The first was a strawberry macaroon extremely sweet, then a pistachio pastry with dark chocolate on top again quite sweet, a chocolate rounded mousse with white chocolate on top my favourite but quite heavy, and finally the mango filled eclair with passion fruit, coconut and caramel on top the caramel was so hard it took away from the lovely mango filling. Wouldn't rush back here, especially at the price, due to the desserts, but the menu changes regularly and the silver service as well as a live pianist is a nice touch if you want a different day out!

Had afternoon tea here for the second time last week with some friends. It is just such a lovely experience, it is pricey, but in my eyes, worth every penny. For me, you can notice all the small things, each time you drink your tea, they fill it up with lovely hot fresh tea. They have an extensive tea menu and we were free to try as many tea of coffees as we wanted. For me, the high point is the savoury food, the scones are AMAZING, little domes of buttery deliciousness served with Jam and cream. I also loved the selection of sandwiches and the tea brack. I was a little disappointed with the sweet treats, the macaron was tasty but all the other deserts were the same as the last time I was there. We were there to celebrate my friends birthday and when I booked they asked if we were celebrating anything but didn't reference it at all, this was a little embarrassing as I had told the other girls that they might sing happy birthday. (I had seen them do it on my last visit) Overall I love afternoon tea in the Sherborne, I would love if they changed up the deserts a little, but would happily spend a few hours a week listening to the piano and drinking tea in this beautiful room!!

I purchased afternoon tea for my family as a treat and we went when they had the princess grace offering on. The pastries were so fresh and soft and really elegant. However I could not fault the scones I had never tasted scones as light and fluffy. Really nice atmosphere with piano playing and staff were really friendly. Also the tea was just gorgeous and was nice to see different types of tea for a non coffee drinker! However I recently learned that the price has since gone up about 7e since I purchased this gift last year and therefore would likely not purchase this again as feel price increase is very large.

You don't exactly go the afternoon tea at the Shelbourne for a gourmet experience; it's more about the atmosphere (stuffy with a side of ye olde Dublin than the sandwiches but for the price you pay, the food should be really good. And it is, to a point. The savoury stuff is a bit bland-you get the feeling it's just thrown together and left to sit in a cooler all day...salmon on brown bread is just that. The scones are lovely and the cakes are really tasty. Macaroons, panna cotta, chocolate cup. You won't leave with any hunger...and it's not a bad way to while away an afternoon with friends. Champagne optional but recommended :
