Here's what I discovered: It's best to bring your own soap, shampoo, and conditioner as the provided soap isn't great. The water pressure is good, and the tap water is drinkable. You need your key card to operate the lights. The bed was exceptionally comfortable with firm pillows, no top sheet, just a bottom sheet and duvet. I had a restful sleep. The thick curtains blocked out most of the light. It's advisable to avoid a room on the 1st floor or near the bar as it can get noisy at night. I stayed on the 3rd floor, and it was very peaceful. The hotel restaurant is excellent, with live music in the evenings. The red wine selection was surprisingly good. I didn't explore the in-room minibar, but there's a Starbucks nearby that opens at 6:30 am. The immediate neighborhood may seem a bit rough with graffiti and litter, as it's an older part of the city. Don't expect a great view, but it's a pleasant surprise if you do get one. Major attractions are within walking distance, just a few blocks away. The staff, especially at the restaurant, are extremely friendly. I recommend asking the hotel to arrange a taxi to the airport, as it's more affordable than getting one from a taxi stand. A taxi booked through the hotel cost me only $35EU compared to nearly $60 from a taxi stand.
The location of the restaurant is fantastic and the service from the staff is excellent. However, the rooms were uncomfortable due to lack of ventilation, with only a barely opening window and a weak fan. This resulted in a warm and stuffy room, leading to a poor night's sleep. There were also some minor issues like peeling paint in the bathroom, which is common in older buildings like this one. Despite enjoying the location and staff, I would not stay at this hotel again unless renovations are made to improve the sleeping conditions.
The hotel may be older, but it is clean and the staff are helpful. It has a great location, especially for young people, being very close to the hop-on hop-off bus and Temple Bar. However, I was disappointed in the Celtic night show with dinner. This was my fourth time attending over the years, but the music and show did not meet the standards of previous visits. It was a very disappointing experience.
3 Stars average hotel, not bad at all, but nothing special. For the price it is a great location. It is walking distance to Temple Bar and Trinity College, and near lots of bus stations, visitors information, shopping, and food/bars nearby. The room was clean but very outdated (no A/C, broken iron, lights flickering, old carpet). When we were looking for where to stay, this was one of the few places with a king-size bed. There were hangers in the closet and a hair dryer but no shampoo/conditioner (only body soap). It was loud at night, we kept the window open because it was summer and there was noise from drunk or homeless people in the alley. The hotel is beautiful from the outside, and the staff was friendly and professional. We didn't book dinner/show but heard good things about it.
It's a nice hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. The furniture and interior are run down and could use some refreshing. The elevator is extremely slow. The hotel offers a very nice breakfast
