A massive pub,bar staff friendly and great craic,pint amazing..a must visit

I have many cherished memories of visiting this pub with my family while growing up. However, upon returning after a year or two away, I was disappointed to find that the place had deteriorated significantly. My parents had warned me that it had become a run-down establishment, and they were right. The pub was dirty and now seemed to attract a younger crowd, making it more of a hangout spot for kids. The addition of an outdoor beer area was a disaster and hardly ever used. It appears that the Red Cow, which took over recently, has done little besides superficially cleaning up the place. They have gotten rid of most of the staff and have driven away long-time customers. The manager seems focused only on attracting a younger clientele, making it difficult for regulars to enjoy their visit. I ended up going to a different local pub and discovered that many former patrons of this pub now frequent the new place. If I were the Red Cow, I would seriously reconsider the direction in which the pub is headed and not just rely on the manager's perspective.

I have passed by The Speaker Connelly Pub many times over the years, but never had the chance to stop in until recently. Today, I finally had the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely lunch at the small shopping centre on Old Bawn Road. Lunch service had already ended, but we were warmly welcomed and gladly placed our order. Both my dining companion, who is knowledgeable about all things book-related, and I decided on the beer battered cod and chips with a side of onion rings. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were so generous that I struggled to finish mine. For dessert, we indulged in homemade chocolate brownies with fresh cream and ice cream which were divine. I would rate the experience 11 out of 10 - it doesn't get any better than that! The prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. I can't wait to visit again. Derek, a proud Dubliner.

I would rather catch Covid I had a steak and the usual ordered and what I got looked like the cows tongue on a plate as for the gravy ….. I would rather catch Covid Stay clear of this place as it’s living in the 70s

The menu makes a post Covid trip to the Speaker really appealing. Varied, tasty and something for everyone. Plan on visiting really soon.
