Contribuiți la feedbackFantastic food, great service and brilliant selection of wines. A rainy night in Dublin but Piglet made it a night to remember. Thankyou !
Not my best eating experience. I was looking forward to a high class experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our son. The experience started well, the waiter was pleasant and attentive and the starter was very nice. He recommended a white wine (I am more a beer person) that was OK. My son had the pork chop which he enjoyed very much although he did feel the rest of the dish was a little small (that 's French cuisine) my wife and I ordered Cote de boeuf for 2 which is an additional €25 each and really looking forward to something special. I like beef medium but some restaurants tend to over cook it so I asked for it to be more on the rare side. My mistake! When it came out it was more blue or raw on the under side of the ribs on top of the steak was bright red and raw. The steak knife was unable to cut the meat from the bone so we just put it aside. My wife likes her steak better cooked than me so was unwilling to eat it. I assured her I would ask the waiter if it could be cooked a little more. As he didn 't appear to be coming back to see how we were. (most restaurants over do the is everything OK not here) I had to go looking for him. I explained that it was my fault for asking for the steak to be more on the rear side but it was very rare (it was actually raw) he asked if I would like him to take it back to the kitchen and I said I would. He came out to the table and took the steak away. My wife and I ate the very tasty potatoes while we waited. When the steak came back it wasn 't cooked much better (see photos) we ate what we could. I then went to pay the bill. As he produced the card machine he asked if I wanted to give a tip. I don 't like being asked to tip and normal leave at least 10%. I said I wanted to pay the bill by card and use cash for the tip. He said we like cash! He never asked if we had enjoyed the food or if the steak was any better after he brought it back. I gave him a cash tip but less than 10% as I wasn 't very happy with my experience and this must have annoyed him as he was very curt and kept retuning to the table removing items. Clearly wanting us to go. In short if you decide you want too spend a lot for food and don 't care for value then you might enjoy this restaurant. If you do order the steak and like it medium I suggest you asked for well done. Or order something else not worth €110 for two. And if you like to tip for poor service and pay for over priced wine then the Piglet is for you. I will not be returning as there are far better dinning experiences in Dublin.
It was a lovely visit and I did have some pretty good choices it just wasn’t as good as I had expected. Everything was ok just not more than ok. I do intend to return in a few months and see if it has improved.
A good, city centre location on a quiet pedestrian street. Ate outside. Service was efficient and friendly. We chose wines by the glass. There is an excellent range, befitting a wine bar, but prices are steep. The food was good, though perhaps because we were outdoors, it could have arrived warmer. My main concern is that when I dropped back the next day to report that I had been very ill within an hour after finishing the meal, there was no great interest shown. I appreciate that shellfish are tricky my dishes had prawns and mussels (perhaps not wise on a Monday night) and that there is a compensation culture in Ireland, but the management could have followed up with me.
Delightful, casual spot, little to no seating on the ground floor, but tables one flight up and outside, on Cow's Lane. We arrived early with children, calling for flexibility on the part of the restaurant. Excellent, promptly served pasta and accommodating service. Very pleased with it.
