Montauk Bistro - Draper

This is my second visit to this restaurant! The first time I had pho and this time I tried the yellow curry with beef bowl. I preferred the curry bowl over the pho. I appreciated how they incorporated lots of greens into the curry bowl by default. The yellow curry was prepared just the way I like Thai curry. I also enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this small, family-owned restaurant with charming East Asian decor. The service for dining in was excellent.

My family and I were really in the mood for Thai food and stumbled upon this restaurant near my daughter's apartment. We ordered two dishes - the panang curry and yellow curry. To our disappointment, both dishes tasted identical, with chicken and the same vegetables. The sauces were also similarly bland. It did not resemble authentic Thai cuisine at all; more like a stew. It was strange to see cabbage in the panang curry, and there was a lack of seasoning. They provided a red pepper powder on the side for an added kick, but it was not to our liking. We were glad we tried it before adding it to our dishes.

My husband and I loved this charming little bistro. It reminded us a lot of small bistros in Europe. We were the first ones in tonight and the chef/owner was so kind and she explained the menu and her favorites. Her husband also helps out. Appetizers: Lettuce Wrap Steamed dumplings (not pictured because we inhaled them) both were delicious but the dumplings were my favorite. Husband ordered the Bahn Mi which he loved. I enjoyed my French Dip, I really liked dipping it into the Pho broth. They use Stoneground Bread for their sandwiches which takes it over the top! Whatever vinaigrette is on the saladsit’s phenomenal. Don’t skip out on dessert because the mangy sticky rice was delicious and warm. We will definitely be back!
