Sushi City - Downers Grove

This is a fantastic restaurant, even if the mall itself is bustling. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews from others who clearly don't understand.

This time around, after a number of years, we opted for the à la carte menu. The hostess was very accommodating, and I was pleased to find that the food was good and the rice portions were more reasonable. The restaurant itself has a comfortable atmosphere that is suitable for families and conversations. I would consider returning since both the food and service were satisfactory. The staff does their best to keep up with the demand.* *On the subject of food quality: The dishes are delicious! While some may comment on the proportion of rice to fish, I find the food to be absolutely delightful. Those who nitpick may have overly high expectations. Each roll is crafted by hand using freshly cooked premium jasmine rice and the finest fish available in the suburbs. There are also great choices for non-sushi lovers, including tasty duck and noodle dishes. Plus, it’s vegetarian and vegan friendly too! Definitely worth a visit!*

Fantastic! My wife and I regularly go to Chicago and always go to the local favorites like Portillo's and Lou Malnati's/Giordano's/Gino's East, but this place is on the list. We don't get an affordable sushi where we live, so we always look for a sushi repair and this place overwhelmed us. First the staff was great!! I never felt so welcome in a restaurant like me when we came in. There was a beautiful young host who just made our experience the best!! We went for everything you can eat so we could get the special roles and my thinking is now, why not? We tried many different roles (Shrimp Tempura, Philly Roll, Spicy Salmon, Crazy Maki) and tried the Torched Dragon and the Mexican Maki from the special menu. Different flavors but both were brilliant!! All we had was great. I highly recommend this place if you love sushi. This is now a Chicago area favorite for us and we go every time we go to Chicago for a weekend....what is often. I can't wait to go back.

This place is great! The staff is really fantastic. I love the food! Quality food for a great price. Beautiful decor and a very comtemporary feel. My friends and I always look forward to going!
