Mrs Knott's Tea-room - Dover

The setting at Mrs. Knotts is truly lovely. After a blustery walk, it was a delight to arrive at this charming spot. We had to sit outside due to bringing our dog along, though we wished we could have enjoyed the lovely interior. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a delicious scone and coffee, but wished we could have also tried a sandwich. Unfortunately, the sandwiches were already made, and we had a picky eater with us. Despite this, we would still recommend Mrs. Knotts, but hope they consider adding indoor seating for guests with dogs.

Despite being hesitant due to a recent negative review, our experience at the restaurant was completely opposite. We enjoyed a delicious scone with jam, cream, and a pot of freshly brewed loose leaf tea in a cozy, vintage setting adorned with charming photographs of the ancestors of current volunteers. The environment was clean and the staff were delightful, just as we remembered from our visit many years ago. Although we didn't try the sandwiches or soup, they looked lovely as well.

The staff appeared indifferent, there were wasps present, tables were dirty, and crumbs were scattered throughout the display/serving area. The restaurant could benefit from a thorough cleaning. It did not meet our expectations.

Lovely setting in traditional tea rooms, a welcome break on our walk along the white cliffs. Good choice of teas and sandwiches.

Pre covid I used to visit often, two lovely big scones and all the trimmings. Went in May and was a little miffed, price increase, but now only one small scone and not of previous quality. Last visit which was queens jubilee I took a picnic didn’t go into cafe at all. I think retailers, restaurants tea rooms etc need to understand that if they can’t reduce quality and quantity as is a downward spiral. Maintain quality and offer a decent sized scone for the money, don’t offer one puny below average size and quality because the people who regularly frequent will soon not bother.
