The toilets were clean and there was free parking available. It's a great place for children to enjoy and I would recommend spending half a day there.
I visited this lovely little gem on Monday and it wasn't too crowded. The atmosphere was great, with friendly staff and patrons. The five-pound return fee is a steal!
More than ten years since our last visit to the ekr and I have to say that the volunteers have worked out their socken clearly! shepherdswell railway station is much as I remember, but the addition of the forest trails and miniatur railway ensures that there is a lot to do between trains. at the other end of the line eythorne station looks really smart. the signal box is as well as the converted cars, which serve as caffe and facilities of the railway station. there is also a large picnic area with magnificent views of the Kent landscape. many to occupy them during the 20-minute layover before returning to shepherdswell. if that's not enough to visit her, did I mention that it's an absolute bargain? we only paid £2pp for our return tickets on a special bank holiday, but also the standard rates are a steal at £20 for a family of four. as an end spring in the EKR-Hut they welcome dogs both on site and on the trains. the forest trails are perfect to burn some puppy energy before a relaxing ride on the trains.
Five stars for the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff alone! we went with daughter and not (6, 7 10) into the Christmas train and they all loved him. the employees have brought everyone to rest, gone away to make it a magical experience, and made us really welcome. trains may not be as beautiful as other christmas suits, but the effort to make it was amazing. Christmas decoration everywhere, from the way to the train station, to the platforms. the personal dressed and Christmas music plays on the train. we even went through a tunnel that was a magical portal and brought us to the north pole (but farther south than where it snowed otherwise the train would be stuck; there is a large parking lot, but signage is a little unclear, the main railway station parking is right next to the entrance, but drive it through the huge to go and there is a parking lot. toilets available again not the fantastic, but operable and clean. (more toilets on the other end of the train line also available. cafe in front of place we did not visit, but looked quite large from outside. many railway stuff to lie the parking lot, looks almost like a scraped place at some places (not dangerous, but that has added to the charm for me.
The restaurant is small but very charming. We enjoyed taking three different train rides, two on small rails and one on a big diesel train. We had a lovely picnic near a station and later went for a walk in the woods.
