What a charming little shop! The patio was absolutely delightful. The coffee was fantastic and incredibly fresh. The food was prepared right in front of us using fresh ingredients, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. It’s the perfect spot to pick up a coffee and a sandwich while heading out of town. For those with dietary restrictions, they offer gluten-free bread, healthy options, and delicious baked goods! We dined in for breakfast and loved every moment.

While camping at Van Buren State Park, we needed a cozy spot to escape the rain, and we found this cafe to be a true gem. The spacious front window fills the coffee shop with light, making it a refreshing change from most places that can feel dark and difficult for creative work. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone in the Douglas or Saugatuck area looking for a place to write, create art, or enjoy conversations with the locals. The only downside was the lack of gluten-free pastries or snacks. Thank you for providing such a warm and welcoming environment for my girlfriend, her service dog, and me!

This is one of my favorite places in Douglas for some breakfast and a latte with a friend. Yeah, sometimes it takes a minute to get your food, but it's a quaint, relaxed coffee place they're always doing their best and that's what matters. Their baked goods are delicious, they have great breakfast options, and their coffee blends are great. I have no problem being patient and enjoying my coffee while I wait a few minutes for my food. My husband and I are sure to visit Respite every time we visit from Illinois. We suggested our son and his wife try it. We all keep coming back. The menu board can satisfy any palate, and the coffee, tea, and specialty drinks are spot on. The staff has always been very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy.
