Adler - Dornbirn

First, the food quality is delicious and the service is very attentive. We were all impressed and visited the eagle again in the area.

I was surprised that this place has not been mentioned in Trip Advisor so far. It is one of the restaurants that visit the family usually on special occasions, such as close friends or birthday parties and/or similar events. The house itself is about 260 years old completely renovated place with very special charm. As far as I know, they also offer few hotel rooms. Travelling to Schwarzenberg leads through romantic villages in NW of Austria known as Vorarlberg. Only 5 km from the hotel is one of the beautiful ski resorts in NW Austria. The trip is worth excellent food, simple, but tasty, as good chefs would say. Try it

The food was usually delicious (although slightly overpriced). When one of our parties complained about the amount of salt and strange flavors in their meat dish, the owner told us in an honest way that they do not agree with our assessment that their chefs cook fine food. The article was canceled by the invoice, but no replacement was offered. We shared what we had, so no one had to be hungry. Only the waitress seemed a bit more embarrassing than we did. Obviously not the kind of behavior you expect from a restaurant that targets GM quality (and prices) and a great shame because everything else was beautiful.

To help you better understand my reviews, my wife and I are independent travelers in our mid-60s. While we definitely like a bit of luxury and enjoy good food, we usually find five-star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants too pretentious. We have dined at the Gasthof Adler on many occasions while attending the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. The food is nouvelle with Austrian touches (particularly in their choice of ingredients). The food is consistently excellent, with many interesting choices on the menu. The specials follow what is available locally and seasonally. On our most recent visit, we took a friend out to lunch and had the most wonderfully light housemade ravioli filled with Pfifferlinge (German for chanterelles). We always look forward to dining here. In good weather, sitting out in their garden is delightful. And when it is cold and rainy, the interior is divided into a number of small rooms with only a few tables in each room, so dining is intimate.

We ate here twice in a week. Very friendly welcome. Traditional ambience. Fantastic venison, calf steak, pfifferling mushrooms. House recommended wine very good. Attentive but relaxed service.
