This is a good place if you don't speak Russian. You can point to the various items (the items are described in English). They must have over 50 items to choose from. Here's what I found on a recent visit (I'm skipping over the meat items). First they had some salad options carrots, pickled cabbage with orange, cheese plate etc. then they had desserts cakes and pies. Then came the salad and veggie section cooked squash, beet, assortment of salads. Then came rice, potatoes, etc. then there were fries, and other potato variations. Then came the soup section mushroom, vegetable, borscht, etc. this was followed by rice, wheat porridge, buckwheat, stewed cabbage, cabbage cake, etc. then you can skip over the fish section to go to the pancake and dumpling section pancakes with mushrooms, cabbage, potato, and cherry dumpling, carrot cakes, and a few others. Then there was the drinks sections. Their yogurt was phenomenal, but they also had kefir, milk, and other drinks. And the was another dessert table with cakes and bread. Nd on the way through the checkout, they had coffee, tea, bottled water, and alcoholic beverages. They also had a cafe that mapped specialty dip rinks like lattes and espresso. You can eat a very filling meal with six or seven of the above items for about $6. Amazing deal, but the taste is a bit bland. Also Ukrainians seems to eat a lot of cabbage, beet, and potatoes. I suggest picking up several pepper packets for seasoning. Or take a bottle of hot sauce with you. The place was quite clean, but nothing upscale. And they play too many Beatles songs as they are affiliated with the Liverpool hotel

This place is by no means a bastion of vegetarianism. When I arrived in Donetsk I was talking to a couple of locals who I asked about vego eateries in the city. They said to me that it would be tough and that with the Liverpool has a bit of a studenty kind of scene and is the best place to go to try to get some vegetarian food. The choice is big you don't need to be in there long to see that the majority of the clientelle are meat eaters. My Russian is pretty limited and there wasn't much English spoken by staff so there was a bit of a language barrier but I gave it a go anyway. They do little dishes of pickled sea veg which at 5 UAH is an utter bargain by Western prices. They offer salads and soups one of which is called vegetarian soup. They offer pasta with a tomato sauce, rice dishes with vegetable, various sorts of potatoes and potato wedges and the like. What has gone into these in the cooking process I am afraid I have no idea and if you go and want to ascertain that, you will need to try yourself with either better Russian than I speak or maybe have more luck than me and get a member of staff who speaks English. Prices are inexpensive by Western standards. Location is central 4 doors away from the main drag (even though the address published is that of the main drag). The place also has a 3 star hotel that I haven't stayed in and also a live music venue and a karaoke bar. I would love this place to be more geared towards vegos than it. In Ukraine though, that is optimistic. Up to you if you want to try to make the most of this place. Payment is using the card payment system that they have. Rock up to the payment booth on the way and the lady there will sort you out.
