Castle Murray House - Donegal

Amazing setting, terrific views, wonderful hosts and really great breakfast options make this a a great place to stay in Donegal. We are glad that we opted to stay there instead of Donegal Town which is OK for a little shopping and the Castle but Castle Murray House was very special. A nice plus was the “honor bar” a full bar like a small pub onsite where you can just list what you used. A nice benefit if you are settled in for the night and don’t want to go out.

We stayed at Castle Murray in June , it was wonderful. We were informed ahead of time that the restaurant was closed but they still made breakfast . We met a couple who were from England and they told us that we had just missed a special dinner that was cooked for guests only and they raved about how great the food was . They are thinking of offering dinner again for guests in the future . I hope so ,because we will be going back . If dinner is as good as breakfast it will be 5 star i'm sure . We loved Murray House the location is beautiful overlooking the bay and the rooms and bathrooms are clean spacious . Margarithe is so very warm attentive as well as friendly. She explained her family history , she works very hard . Her husband Peter is his name( I think) is a first class chef . He makes a really nice breakfast his pancakes were delicious . I hope we can return next year .

Castle Murray is truly a unique dining experience. This was our third time visiting, and we keep coming back for many reasons. The view, ambiance, cuisine, and owner all deserve a 5-star rating. As soon as you walk in, you feel welcomed and at home. St. Johns Point is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world, and you would be remiss not to choose this B&B for your stay.

I won't go into too much detail, as I visited the restaurant in August 2016. While it may not be the most affordable option, it is without a doubt the most flavorful beef burger I have ever had. The restaurant is not flashy or overly decorated, but the food is simply delicious. It is clear that a lot of effort has gone into sourcing high-quality meat and fish, as the difference in taste is noticeable.

What a wonderful place to have Sunday lunch ,food excellent ,service excellent ,nowhere else in the area is as good ,such a pity that the restaurant closed we will miss it ,good luck with the bed and breakfast venture
