During a peaceful stroll around the grounds of the old St. Catherine's Hospital in Balby, Doncaster, we stumbled upon this charming cafe. Rebranded as the Flourish Cafe, it is nestled next to the walled garden. Recently renovated, the cafe is impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Guests can choose to dine indoors or in one of the many outdoor seating areas; we opted for the courtyard to escape the hot sun and enjoy a cool breeze. The fresh salad sandwiches were served on soft, delicious bread, and the latte was perfect. The prices were very reasonable at £11 for 2 sandwiches, 2 crisps, and 2 drinks. The staff were friendly and courteous, and we were amazed to find such a gem just 10 minutes from home. A wonderful retreat that we will definitely visit again - 10/10.
I went to this restaurant for afternoon tea today with a friend. We stayed for two hours and were pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff who frequently checked to see if we needed anything else. The sandwiches were delicious and there was a good variety to choose from. I appreciated that the selection of cakes was not overwhelming. Despite staying for a long time, we never felt like we were inconveniencing anyone. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely be returning.
I came here to have brunch for a business meeting, I had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows which was lovely and a toasted tea cake which was also very nice! Not a bad price either and a good variety of things to choose from.
Great, reasonably-priced food. In the summer, it 's nice to sit outside on the terrace which overlooks the old walled-garden of the big house.
