The Black Swan - Doncaster

Lovely friendly place. The staff could not be more helpful. Also (importantly) dog friendly. We had the Sunday lunch, it was beautiful. Although there were no vegetarian options on the menu, I was offered quite a selection of choices. I went with the mushroom and Stilton Wellington. Simply delicious. Although it's quite a cosy place (with a roaring fire) they have live music from time to time. We will be returning this evening to see the group Atlanta. We will be telling or friends to come here.

We had a lovely meal here , and the locals were friendly and made us very welcome the beer was the best i have ever had only problem was that there were flies buzzing round which was annoying

This was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. The Brussel sprouts were completely uncooked, the Yorkshire puddings were reheated to the point of being impossible to cut through, and the roast potatoes and carrots were frozen and canned, respectively. The gammon was overly salty. To make matters worse, there were numerous flies buzzing around and landing on the food as we ate. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, but we were the only customers dining at the time - now I understand why. I definitely will not be returning to this restaurant and would recommend avoiding it altogether.

We went to this restaurant over the weekend. Despite Storm Dennis causing chaos, it was nice to see a hearty open fire burning. We ordered two steak pies, one with chips and the other with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The option for a smaller portion was thoughtful and we chose that. Both dishes looked great and tasted delicious. The short pastry was divine and the simple chips were very nice. We couldn't fault a single thing. The prices for the meal and drinks were very reasonable. We also enjoyed a delicious dessert. It was one of the best and felt like a homely treat.

We popped in on our way past for a few drinks, they weren't doing food that evening but said we could go to the chip shop and eat them in there. The staff were very friendly and there were quite a few locals chatting, drinking and playing darts. We will be back another time for Sunday lunch.
