Moderno - DOMODOSSOLA

We went there for gelato, their gelato was fine, but the waffle was not fresh. it has view seating outside, you can sit and enjoy the view on the street. Prices are good, service is good.

I suspect I was paying a tourist “surcharge,” and didn’t like it. In any event a few hundred meters away if not closer the prices are much lower. You’re basically paying for the convenience of being near the station. M

The only reason we went for drinks in Bar Moderno is because we had a train layover at Domodossola. Entering this bar is like traveling back in time. With an old fashioned interior with a big bar and matching hospitality. I felt right at ease. We ordered a glass of prosecco for only 3,5 euro. A real bargain for a nice big glass of lovely prosecco. We liked the prosecco so much, that we couldn't help but order a second one. After ordering our second glass, the bar tender brought us some free bites to eat: olives, bread with bacon and chips. Highly appreciated. I especially loved the little birds, flying around inside the bar. They were bothering no one and it was clear they felt right at home. I only had drinks at his bar, so can't comment on the food. I can add though that Bar Moderno also serves gelato. When in the future I have another layover at Domodossola, I'll definitely be back and perhaps I'll try some of their gelato.

Went there a few times this month, always proper friendly service, drink prices are ok, both pensioners and students frequent this bar, nothing fancy but pleasant. Yes, I liked the Prosecco too, haha!
