We booked for 7.30pm this is a must and already it was filling up, by 8ish the place was nealry full and people who were eating earlier were leaving an others came in and were seated as the evening went on, so a very popular place. We ate Wednesday evening 17th Sept. The waiter and waitress were friendly and attentive but not in your face, the lady, who seemed to be in charge, came over to fill our wine and offered 4 warm vol au vents on the house , but there were 5 of us and we noticed that a table of 2 were given 3 of these , but hey ho they were very good., we just shared but a smile would have been nice or friendly look instead of walking away with officousness. Fortyunately the older gentleman with glasses, whom I guess was the owner or head guy, was more friendlier and offered free smiles , very quietly spoken and joked a little as he passed by. The food was lovely, I had Iberian pork , thinly sliced which was delicious although a little over salty for my taste I dont use much in my own cooking , so just my personal taste but that I guess is the seasoning, potatoes were delicious and plentiful and came served on the side a bed of wilted spinach, yummy flavoured mushrooms chopped and roast baby toms , divine as I love spinach. My husband and sister had the cataplana to share which was fabulous and lots of fish so they were thrilled served in a traditional copper pan, and full up, do ask for a portion of rice as not served in the dish, where as other places we have had this in the stew, but no problem and the waiter did not charge for it when requested, bro in law had meat kebab and very happy and my mum had the pesto linguine which was also delicious she said. The desserts were panacotta, must try this its the best I have ever had, creme brulee was more like a baked custard but still delicious ~I was told. bro in law had an irish coffee and nice and strong with whiskey, hubby had coffee and the mendotha ?? portugese version of Raki I think, and we were all offered a complimentary glass of port after dinner which of course went down well, would defintely recommend this and will go again when in area, shame about the previous couple of bad reviews, but everyone has a different experience, ours was fabulous and a great last night in Portugal.
