Contribuiți la feedbackThe taste is atetic and the service was excellent. First time we enjoyed our dinner and place, they are friendly
My wife and I and two friends enjoyed a beautiful Miidday at Damonica. Each guest was delicious, the most important ingredients and spices were fresh and the results were very satisfying. The server was attentive and helpful without floating.
We live in San Miguel de Allende and toured two days ago to Atotonilco and Delores Hidalgo. We had a fantastic time. Our guide suggested eating our late lunch / dinner in Damónica, so we were good to go. The ambience was beautiful in the courtyard. The waiter Jesús was great. He was attentive, but not transferred. He spoke English and Spanish as we did not smile completely smoothly and always. Meals: Pizza for the guide and I, which was absolutely perfect. Do not overbid and many toppings of your choice. My wife had pasta with shrimps and mussels in white wine sauce. She loved the aromas and lots of food. The experience was enormous and the owner Mónica was very pleasant. We'll be sure we'll return Asap.
4/5 We three British middle aged guys were in the region to explore the old colonial towns and cities. We left San Miguel de Allende after a huge breakfast at Casa Lupita and arrived in DH in the afternoon, checked into our Hotel Maria Isabella (not TA listed on Ave Guanajuato where I looked up places to eat. This was #1 and looked way beyond our budget (we remember seeing it on the way from the station too so I looked elsewhere and found El Carruaje which we also noticed on our walk too! After our rest we checked out EC which had a buffet for 150 but it looked like it may be very tired (and cool by 9pm. We loitered in the square and church and decided to go to the Wine Museum at 19:30. It was closed but the restaurant was next door and open so I popped in to look at the menu. The restaurant inside was very smart with tables outside in a beautiful courtyard setting but there was nobody eating on this first Saturday in May. The staff were sitting at a table and surprised to see me (a tourist . I asked the waitress for a menu and showed it to my friends. The food was not expensive at all (this is not Puerto Vallarta or SMA and they had Burrata at a good price (150 so we took a table in the courtyard by the fountain in view of the road (to attraction more diners in and proceeded to choose the dishes. Mexican Wine was appropriate for this setting (albeit in an Italian restaurant and the wine list was huge (being next to the museum and posh so we ordered the cheapest, Manchon Syrah Tinto (310 we could see. I also ordered a Negra Modelo (40 . I wandered around the grounds and up to the roof terrace above the restaurant and museum. The journey was up a few flights of stairs and the views were good, including the courtyard and nearly our table. I noticed the waitress delivering the wine. There were no tables on the covered roof terrace, maybe it was for special occasions as it is quite a trek from the kitchens for any waiter. I returned to find the wine poured (1/3 full in each big glass, Spanish style and the table laid with crockery, cutlery and proper napkins. We toasted with the wine only to find it was very very sweet! There was no indication on the menu that it was ‘Dulce’! Oh dear. It was too late. I heard that my friends were not offered to taste it as it was served with a performance. We decided it was too late to return it and took our time drinking it during the meal. We also ordered a jug of natural water (30 which diluted the sugar! An assortment of hot bread rolls in a basket arrived along with garlic and herb (home made, I asked butter and finely chopped tomatoes in a light tangy sauce. A dish of tasty tapenade was also provided along with a variety of balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. These went down well. As we are pescatarian we chose a Caesar Salad, leaving out the chicken (90 which was a cheaper option. We also ordered the burrata (150 . They arrived in good time. The burrata came on a bed of sliced beef tomatoes (but no greenery to create that tricolour and was delicious being quite earthy/meaty. The Cesar salad was generously coated with parmigiana and large well fried garlic croutons, all very tasty as we shared the dishes between us. For mains we ordered Gnocci in 4 cheese sauce (180 , Pasta al Salmón (190 and Shrimps with cognac (240 . They all arrived in good time. My friend’s Salmon was in a heavy tomato sauce and as he despises tomatoes and expected a cream sauce he was not impressed! I have a friend who lived in Naples (where the restauranteurs are from so (as I was in conversation with him anyway I asked him if this was typical of the area. He did not get back to me. I am afraid along with the (badly ordered wine this was to become one of his worst meals of the holiday (and expensive . My friend’s shrimps in cognac were big and numerous but in their shells so he found them messy to eat and not too well flavoured either. They were accompanied by broad beans, carrot and something else (I cannot make it out in a photo well over a week later . My gnocci was probably a mistake as it looked by comparison very bland. The parmegiano/Parmesan was the dominant cheese, sprinkled over the medium size portion of gnocci. No garnish was included, only a sprinkling of parsley. It also had a very earthy taste, probably one of the more mature cheeses (getting any mature cheese in Mexico is difficult never buy sliced and packaged ‘Manchego’ as it is tasteless rubbery cardboard . My disappointed friend thought it was disgusting. Maybe it is an acquired taste? He ate much better pastas since I’m far cheaper places. My gnocchi was all a bit too nouvelle for me, I should have tried something else but as veggies/pescatarians our choices are instantly limited. As we were in a nice setting we decided to treat ourselves to share the fabled Tiramisu (80 . We were given the dish with three forks and some home made crispy biscuits. The tiramisu was very tasty indeed and went down well. It was then I realised I had completely ignored my Negra Modelo so started and finished it (the wine and water being long gone . We were presented with a complimentary limoncello each which was a nice gesture. We asked for the bill which came hand written to an accurate 1310. We paid by card and despite the problems left a 100 tip in cash as it was not the friendly and accommodating waitress’ fault. We then all went to the roof terrace to appreciate the views and also we used the clean and smart toilets. We left via the main restaurant which still had no diners in so we were the only diners all evening it seemed. We chatted to the old girl who explained her family has moved from poor Puglia to Milan to seek their fortunes, set up a restaurant (the picture of the grand house was on the kitchen wall and then they sold up and moved to Dolores Hidalgo to restore the building and create this upmarket restaurant. Maybe it is busy in high season. I hope it is. Our service was quick and courteous (as the only diners there it should have been quick! . The menus (both wine and food need clarification of the ingredients especially as some people may have aversions or intolerances.
Muy recomendable! No se fijen en la actual ubicación. Nos gusto la entrada mixta italiana, el tiramisu y la pasta.
