The Lower Ledge Gastropub - Doaktown

The food was exceptional, earning a perfect rating of 5 stars; every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was equally impressive, also receiving a 5-star rating— the staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a rating of 4 stars, creating a pleasant backdrop for our dinner. Overall, I highly recommend this spot for a delightful evening out!

Now, for the less favorable part. My wife and I shared a platter of chicken wings and a platter of chicken strips. These were the first items to arrive at our table, within just 5 or 6 minutes. It was clear they had been sitting under a heat lamp and were not freshly prepared. Both the wings and strips were quite thick and notably dry. I sent the wings back, and a second batch was brought out. This time, they were slightly better, but the breading was still thick, heavy, and overly dark. We ordered the honey garlic sauce, but it seemed like the wings were tossed in the sauce after cooking rather than being properly coated. We ended up eating only about half of the wings, and the server didn’t seem to notice that the other half remained untouched. Other couples at our table ordered the fish and chips and raved about them; they mentioned the batter was light and beautifully golden. Overall, my experience was quite disappointing, and based on what we ordered, I wouldn't choose those items again. We visit every year and typically give the restaurant another chance, but I think we'll try something different next time.

This was a complete surprise. A great location right on the river, big patio and nice atmosphere. The menu was the biggest surprise with vegetarian options. The deep-fried tofu was a nice appetizer. If you are in the area it is worth stopping in and I will again if in the area again. Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options available, not something I see often enough in rural New Brunswick. Parking: Nice big parking area, gravel.

Beautiful outdoor dining area overlooking the river, pleasant, friendly and efficient service, great tasting food and accommodating for vegan guests! Definitely going back for deep fried tofu! SOOO good! Thank you Allyssa for the wonderful service!
