El Portal de Las Cuevas

I did not stay in the El Portal, but drove and stayed in this little town!! It is on Rt. 7 and it is such a picturesque little town!!! I loved it!!! It was a stop on my tour to the Chilean border and it was spectacular!!!!

We stopped at this base in the Andes on a day trip. You could get from a buffet with hot items all were great, especially the Portuguese chicken What I remember most was the friendly service and the smile of all who worked there. I loved this place. Considering that it's like 12,000 feet high, they do a great job.

El Portal de Las Cuevas was our stop restaurant for a cheap lunch. For a small price we had a buffet style lunch with seven kinds of meat, vegetables and beans, potatoes, fruit salad, wine and dessert. The owners were very hospitable and the whole place was friendly and touristy. Simple place, but recommended for lunch.

Um restaurante no meio da neve. Quando fomos estava um frio de rachar - algo bem perto de zero graus. O ambiente é bastante rústico. A comida, tipo pague um preço e coma o quanto o garçom puder botar no seu prato (é ele que serve e não tem pena e nem cerimônia em querer lhe encher de comida), é bem caseira e com bom tempero. Tem vinho e cerveja boa.

Fuimos en nuestra propia camioneta a visitar el Cristo que esta a 4.000 metros de altura en la frontera con Chile, ahi nomas, esta este restaurante llamado "Portal de las Cuevas", que es a nuestro entender, espectacular, familiar, limpio, bien atendido, comimos muy bien, riquísimo y barato. Ya lo conocíamos del viaje anterior y regresamos al mismo lugar y volvería a ir sin duda.
