I was with my family in Didsbury for the tractor Olympics on Sunday July 16. My dad and I came from Medicine Hat and the rest of my family came from Calgary. After the show, we wanted to have supper before heading back home. To start with something positive, the decor is fabulous. It is very welcoming and friendly with what they have painted on the walls. And the dishes and bowls are very cool. There were 7 of us and we arrived at 5:15pm. We were sat at a table and then seemingly forgotten about for 15 minutes. Finally a hostess arrived and took our drink orders and then took our food order too as she said the waitress was busy. Our drinks arrived. and then 45 minutes later and no one had come to check on us. My sister in law walked over to the kitchen to ask for refills on our tea and coffee. Our food arrived half hour after that. An hour and 15 minutes to wait for food when the restaurant only has 6 other tables is quite extreme. Plus we saw another table that came in after us, get their food before us. My cousin ordered steak sandwich and didn't get a steak knife. Luckily I ordered ribs and got a steak knife with mine, so we shared the knife. My sister in law's garlic bread was only toasted on one side. The other side was just cold bread. The ribs I ordered were super huge like Fred Flintstone but they had no flavor. I got a doggy bag and sent them home with my brother for his dogs to enjoy. Mashed potatoes came with my meal and there was a big chunk of raw, unmashed spud that they seemingly hid under the ribs. The mashed potatoes were not buttered or salted either. Overall, we were amazed at all the problems with our visit. At first we were just commenting to ourselves about the bad service but soon they were so many things wrong that I made a list on my napkin to post on trip advisor. I'm assuming this place is either new or has problems finding good staff. It sure is decorated nicely though.
My friend had a beef dip and I had the steak sandwich. My friend stated that the bun for the beef dip was a little on the soggy side. The fries and gravy were ok. My steak sandwich was also ok, but not great. I had asked for a medium and it was closer to a medium well. The caesar salad was very good. the service was good. Would eat here again with no problem.
Let me start by saying this place is relatively new and is likely working out kinks here and there so it may be better once they find their stride. My family and I stopped here for dinner. We were greeted and seated immediately. There were about four other tables and at least three servers working plus a bartender and manager. We received our drinks quickly but took a while to place our order. The food took about 45 minutes, which was quite long given the not so busy atmosphere. After it arrived, we heard another waitress give drink and dinner specials to her new table. Our server failed to provide these to us. My mom ordered an extra order of garlic toast, it took the server 20 minutes to come back and say the kitchen forgot it. She was finished her food so she asked they cancel it. The manager brought her toast out as we were boxing up our food and gave us the bill. They charged her for it. I wasn't impressed with that. Overall, the food was good and had large portion sizes but our server needs to better inform patrons and check on tables more often. The kitchen needs to work on getting meals out in a more timely manner. If they get themselves together, they'll be great for Didsbury!
We stopped in on a busy Saturday night for supper. We tried a new appetizer which included Brussel sprouts. My wife likes those and we were pleased with it. However when our entries arrived the vegetables serviced were the same Brussel sprouts. That was poor handling of our order by the waitress and kitchen chef. Nobody likes that many Brussel sprouts! If the waitress or the menu specified Brussel sprouts were the side we would never ordered the appetizer with them. The entries of lamb shank & chicken were ok, nothing special though.
