Once they remembered it was my birthday, I requested a cake. They told me to hold on and then returned with a popsicle in an ice bucket and a candle on the side. To top it off, they blasted 2 Chainz's "Birthday Song" from a portable speaker—something I personally dislike. It felt like a stereotype that assumed what a group like ours might enjoy. Shortly after that, they surprised us with lemon bars and a package of brownies. While I appreciate the effort, I would have preferred honesty—the staff could have simply said they didn't have cake rather than trying to placate me with a popsicle and the loud music. To the manager: in the future, please don't make assumptions about what your guests want without consulting them. Just keep your customers informed about their orders and be truthful. My friends mentioned that their food wasn't that great either, and by the time mine arrived, I had lost interest in eating it. At least we were comped for the desserts and a round of drinks.
Perfect for those with celiac disease! They have a dedicated fryer, and everything can be made gluten-free. The shrimp po'boy was fantastic!
Incredible food! I was thrilled to find out that the entire menu can be prepared gluten-free. I ordered the fried fish po'boy, and it was outstanding! My husband and I go to New Orleans every year, and I must say, this was better than any po'boy I've had in NOLA. I can't wait to return!
I have dined at numerous establishments in downtown Detroit over the past few years, and I believed I had experienced some of the warmest hospitality the city has to offer—until I visited The Elephant Room. Kevin, Brit, and Jenn provided me with the most delightful and unanticipated service, making my experience truly memorable in a way I never expected. I will certainly be returning, and I encourage everyone who reads this review to visit this remarkable place and soak in its full charm!
