Longhorn Steakhouse - Des Plaines

Great service and really good food. This is a great spot for lunch. Portions are good, and prices are fair. I have always had great and friendly service as well. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

We had dinner here because someone had given us gift cards. We were somewhat disappointed with the overall experience. The food is overpriced for the quality and quantity. They never brought us salads even though it was listed as part of the meal on the menu. The broccoli looked like it came out of the freezer, not freshly steamed. The mashed potatoes were sort of oozed onto the plate, a little too thin. We were seated right next to the restroom which was not appetizing due to the soap/bathroom odors coming out of the doors, plus there was a steady parade of customers going in and out past our table. The service was pretty good but the server must’ve been new. We paid mostly with gift cards, the remainder to be put on a debit card. When she came back with the receipt, only one of the gift cards had been applied, the rest charged to our credit card. The main reason we came was to use up the gift cards. She told us we could use the second card “next time”. Since we had to travel quite a ways to get to the restaurant, I told her we preferred to use the card now since we don’t plan on going back to Longhorn any time soon. After a little wrangling she finally went to a manager to straighten out the bill. They were able to redo it but the initial charge stayed on my card for several days. For what it’s worth, if I’m going to spend money on a steak dinner I will choose a nicer steakhouse next time. The food was okay but I don’t think we’d go back.

I’m from Wisconsin and Longhorn Steakhouse is a 1-star there for me, no matter the location; but, I knew it’d be different in IL, and boy was I right! Our steak was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. Mac and cheese was delicious and the bread we got was warm and freshly baked. Service was great and we never had to ask for our drinks to be refilled. Overall just great food and service. Sad we have to drive out so far for good steak, but we left feeling fulfilled and knowing that we had good steak.

Love this restaurant. The food is always fresh. The service is great too. The best place to get lunch or dinner when in town.

Great food, the value was amazing and the staff was very friendly and sweet! I got the 6oz steak and lobster tail with brussel sprouts and Caeser salad as sides. : I also ordered the white peach sangria, which was *huge*!! Fork for scale! The interior was very nicely themed I wish I took some photos, but was so distracted by how good the food was.
