Clam Haven - Derry

Overall rating: 3.2 out of 5. The restaurant only offers outdoor seating and has no restrooms. My service was acceptable, but they forgot my order, making me wait a long time until I reminded them. I tried the lobster roll, which was decent, but it’s not something I would go out of my way to have again.

I've attached the receipt in the photos. If you look closely, you'll see that I didn't include a tip on the card because I tipped in cash—there was no option to tip using my credit card! Regrettably, I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place. To the new owner: In addition to my comments about the food and the service fee, I found the electronic menu board scrolls too quickly, which makes it difficult to review the options. It’s also hard to read in daylight unless you're standing under the canopy, and by the time you adjust to read the screen, it changes! The idea of using a TV monitor for the menu might not be as appealing as you think. Your restaurant has an old-school vibe, and the monitors detract from that. I suspect you've chosen this technology for its convenience in adjusting prices. To clarify, I'm not retired, nor do I have vision problems! Again, I will not be going back, and I do NOT recommend this place.

We placed our order and were told it would take 45 minutes, but it ended up taking over an hour. When the food finally arrived, it was at room temperature—everyone knows that clams and scallops should be served hot. When we went to the counter to pick up our order, we were informed that there were only enough scallops for one serving. We were offered a replacement after waiting an hour, but that was not acceptable. I regret not asking for a refund or at least a credit, but I doubt that would have been granted anyway. To top it off, my granddaughter received the wrong order. At that point, we were just done with the experience. We won’t be returning.

I have been coming to Clam Haven for over 35 years. I have had many years of amazing food and ice cream at this location. I pulled up at suppertime on a weekend and couldn't believe that there was nobody in line waiting usually it's a long line a long wait to order food. I walk up to the counter and look and notice everything has changed. From where the ice cream was air conditioner in the front window held up by cardboard and duct tape. The other window for ice cream was boarded and blocked off. The food menu was not working, but I already knew what I was going to get before. The only thing I wish I did prior was read these terrible reviews and not go. I got the classic hotdog special hotdog was bland. Buns were bland. Fries were terrible. Onion rings were terrible kids meal consisted of hotdog fries which I thought was soft. Serve ice cream, but was hard serve scooped ice cream with sprinkles. It was supposed to be a great meal with my daughter end up being shotty. The 35 years of coming here I never had a bad meal when It was owned by the long time duo owners. I don't know what happened, but I can tell you this that place will be gone sooner than later because this is not what it used to be, and it's not what people want, and it's not what people will go to the future. I got the easiest thing on the menu and came out absolutely terrible burnt wet onion rings fries not even close to it. The swimming pool, where you had the owners car that parked blow up blue swimmable pool with a basketball hoop filled with water totally threw me off the side of the building where the picnic tables were under new management boarded up. I did happen to go upstairs. The old screened in porch and the picnic tables are nice in there. That was only thing I could say about the place. I will never go back. I'll go down the street to lobster claw. Going here made me honestly never want to visit Derry again and even though I grew up there my whole life I don't think I'll ever return. Don't take my advice just go down there and try some food. Tell me what you think.?

Very disappointed with a legendary place that recently has new owners. Prices have jumped substantially. Three hot dogs and a chicken sandwich was almost $40. It took 45 minutes to get our order ready and they forgot all the drinks. The kid at the window was completely untrained. I understand the new owners are from Rig a Tony which explains everything.
