Pool Cafe, Hathersage

I went to purchase an ice cream and use the restroom, but the owner directed me to use public facilities instead. I ultimately chose not to buy the ice cream.

I had high hopes for this café, which I spotted during a hike with my 65-year-old mother. The weather was terrible, so we decided to take shelter outside for a rest, especially since I am pregnant. We noticed a sign stating that only customers could consume food on the premises, so we ordered two coffees and two slices of cake. Although we had not originally planned to stop, the inclement weather and my pregnancy led us to believe it would be acceptable to eat our small sandwiches as long as we were paying customers. Despite the place being nearly empty, with only one other couple outside, the owner informed us that we could not eat our sandwiches, even though we had purchased several items from his business. Disappointed by the lack of customer service towards a 65-year-old and pregnant woman on a rainy day, we decided to leave. It is unfortunate, as we frequent this area often for walks, but we will not be returning due to this experience.

This cafe is a great spot for a midday meal! They offer a wide selection of food, including a fantastic new vegan menu. The teas and cakes are delicious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of tables inside and outside, and the cafe is popular with cyclists, so you know the food is good! Ordering at the counter ensures quick service, with hot and tasty food often accompanied by a nice salad. The only downsides are the small toilets and the discontinuation of the popular broccoli and cheese bake. Additionally, the breakfast menu is only available until 11:30am.

Me and my husband stopped off here while on a walk at the weekend, we had 2 coffee's and a slice of cake and they were delish. The service was also really quick which was surprising considering how busy it was.

Excellent cafe food, made to order,. Sat indoors due to weather but large terrace outside for better weather.
