Peak District Parlour

I stopped by this afternoon for an ice cream, getting a scoop of salted caramel and bubble gum. The service was quick and the flavors were delicious.

We enjoyed our visit to this cozy cafe, finding it to be welcoming and serving a delicious cup of tea (both decaf and regular). We returned the following day after another walk and tried their baked goods, which were also tasty. It was convenient for us that they stayed open late in the afternoon during half term week when other establishments were closed.

We have been frequenting this cafe for years, but haven't been in a while. It seems like the owners may have changed, as the friendly staff we were used to seeing were not there, and neither were the usual menu items like homemade pies. Instead, we encountered a staff member who seemed unhappy in her job, and the overall atmosphere was not the same. I ordered a simple beef sandwich on thick granary bread, while my companion ordered a beef, cheese, and chutney toasted sandwich. Despite being the only customers in the place, our food took a long time to arrive. When it did come, my sandwich was on dry bread with homemade coleslaw that had overly thin mayo, causing the sandwich to become soggy. Additionally, the minimal amount of beef in my sandwich was overcooked, making it tough and unpleasant. I had not requested a hot sandwich, and when I pointed this out, they exchanged it for a properly prepared sandwich. However, the quality of the food was disappointing overall, and we were eager to leave. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this cafe. I rarely give a 'terrible' rating on TripAdvisor, but this experience truly warranted it.

No as good as last year, disappointed. Shame won't be back. Went for lunch and from what it was like this time last year very disappointed. Sausage is not if same quality. And the falafel were microwaved to been bone dry. Will be avoiding for rest if trip here. The Mediterranean platter was very good last year with wide selection items. Photos hopefully show this.

Regularly have coffee and cake here with a group of walkers. Always made welcome (and the dog). Pie and chips for lunch great value.
