Sushi Bay 17 - Denver

A pretty small but delightful establishment located on 17th street. The sushi was quite good and the service was fantastic. We were a large group and the server kept our glasses and bellies full. She always seems to come at the right time without being in our faces. The food was fantastic, all of the fish was very fresh and reasonably priced. A good selection of sashimi, sushi and house rolls. The other highlight of this place is the karaoke room in the back. Perfect for a small group who can not can not sing on key. Makes for a really fun night.

Visiting on a holiday, specifically January 1st, I was grateful to find that they were open when many other restaurants were closed. I only wanted a few pieces of sushi nigiri, so I chose white tuna, albacore tuna, yellowtail, and striped bass, each priced at $6, which didn't seem too bad. When I arrived to pick up my order, I snapped a few photos outside, and I noticed that the west side parking lot had plenty of spaces. I liked the mural on the wall, and the "Irasshaimase" sign at the entrance was a nice touch. Inside, there was one table occupied by two men, with a few others waiting for their takeout. The restaurant had a simple, clean ambiance and offered ample space between tables. To the right of the sushi bar, there’s a door labeled "Karaoke Room," which costs $27 per hour; I didn’t check it out, though. One of the staff at the sushi bar greeted me and informed me they were out of striped bass, so I chose salmon as a replacement, keeping with the same $6 price. My order was ready just a few minutes after our conversation. Once I opened the bag, I found the sushi pieces arranged neatly in the typical sushi container. They looked good at first glance, but the portions were quite small. Of all the selections, the salmon was the standout in flavor, while the striped bass was a letdown—chewy and lacking freshness. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible, but I can't say I would make the trip back from my home in northeast DTC. At least I gave it a shot, but I can only rate this place 3 stars.

I don't know why I keep ordering from this place. Every time I eat it I say to myself I will never order from there again. I guess convenience as it's walkable to my apartment. But this time was really the last. The soup portion is half the size it used to be. I paid extra for spicy mayo and they gave me 1/100 of a container full... laughable really. The Boston roll was missing mayo and the lettuce was old. The rice was hard. The seaweed was stiff. I've had better grocery store sushi. Last time I ordered, the fish was smelly and slimy. The time before that, half went in the garbage. Never again.

I ordered the spicy roll combo and, while I understand it's made from scraps, it tasted old and spoiled. I couldn't bring myself to eat it. How long do they keep the fish? I will never order from here again.

Came and used their karaoke room for my birthday! It was such a wonderful experience and well priced. The service was incredible and the food was, as always, delicious. Everyone had a great time and we are already trying to find and occasion to come back!
