J Sushi - Denton

The service is outstanding, and the food is incredible! This place offers some of the freshest sushi in Denton.

The food arrived in a timely manner, starting with the miso soup, which was quite salty. While it was still edible, the first sip was a surprise. For the don katsu bento, each box came with soup, salad, fried tempura, a California roll, and fried gyoza. The tempura style was different from what I typically expect; it contained thinly sliced carrot, onion, and zucchini, along with one shrimp tempura. It was a little greasier than usual but still had a nice crunch. The gyoza was standard, reminiscent of the frozen variety you might find in a grocery store. The salad had a nice tangy dressing. Unfortunately, the katsu was rather disappointing—it was extremely thin and tasted like a chicken nugget. The California roll was decent but nothing exceptional. Overall, the bento boxes didn't seem worth the price. As for the chicken teriyaki bento, the teriyaki itself was fine but not remarkable. The sashimi was also just acceptable. The seafood fried rice was quite tasty, and I had no complaints there. However, the bulgogi entree could have included more meat for the price; while the beef was thinly sliced, it resembled more of a crumbled mixture. In summary, while the service was great, the food left much to be desired, and I don’t think it was worth the money.

I absolutely adore this sushi restaurant! It's my preferred spot and my go-to craving destination. The spicy edamame is incredibly tasty; I think it’s actually improved over time and now really satisfies my taste buds. The rolls are also very appealing. My fiancé always tries something different, and we’ve yet to be disappointed. The customer service is excellent too; we’re always greeted warmly by the chefs as soon as we walk in. I typically visit for lunch, so I haven't experienced the evening atmosphere, but during the day, it’s quite relaxed and enjoyable.

A hidden gem on the loop here in Denton. We love all of their food. We have always ordered to go, and they always have the rolls and every box marked. The presentation amd taste is amazing.
