Owned by Top Chef Alumni, Laura Cole (she was working as a Private Chef the day we visited), her Sous Chef made our meals. My husband said his halibut was the best he’d EVER eaten before. I had a steak sandwich, which was average. The pasta and iced tea was very good.
A year ago I said this was the Best Restaurant in Alaska but it was so disappointing this time. We drove all the way from Anchorage for the meal and both the service and the meal were unsatisfctory. The chef was not accommodating at all and the experience was not what we expected.
During our journey to our hotel in Denali, we decided to stop at this restaurant. Luckily, we were able to find seating at the bar. Having heard about this place on Top Chef, we were eager to give it a try. The service at the bar was excellent, with an attentive bartender. Although it took a bit of time to receive our meals due to a busy kitchen, the wait was worth it. I ordered the bouillabaisse with a variety of fish and scallops, which was delicious. If you are planning to spend some time in Denali, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant. It's a good idea to make a reservation in advance if possible.
This restaurant was incredible. Our host in Fairbanks suggested we go there, and we went in with low expectations. We weren't able to get a dinner reservation, but we had an amazing brunch instead. Chef Lauren Cole prepared the most delicious mushroom toast, eggs Benedict, and fresh Alaska blueberry pancakes. The staff were friendly, engaging, and shared the fascinating backstory of this hidden gem in Alaska.
Excellent, quality dinner! Make a reservation far in advance we made a reservation many weeks in advance and only time available was 5:30 during one of our 3 nights. It is a real dining experience, so plan to spend a few hours there. Well worth it!
