Contribuiți la feedbackDefinitely something to experience if you're in the San Diego area. This fair is massive. We bought our tickets in advance, purchased preferred parking, and rented a room at the hotel nearby. At the time I was 8 months pregnant and we were traveling with our 2 year old toddler so planning ahead was a must. So glad we did. Our weekend went smoothly. The hotel was just accross the fairgrounds, but in our situation, was technically not a walking distance. The preferred parking was perfect. We left right when the fair opened to beat the traffic and were able to park close to the main entrance. We made our way through the grounds with no problem since there wasn't too much people that early in the morning. We went on 4th of July weekend so weather was not on our side. We were able to take our son to the very few little kid friendly activities available. Most of the rides and games are geared towards the older crowd. The only thing we could really do with him was the petting zoo, the merry go round, and some little kid carnival games. Ticketing is electronic so make sure to have a full charge on your phones if you plan on riding or playing. Food was on the pricey side. Overall a fun time for the older generations. Not much to do for little kids.
First time at this fair and I really had an amazing time. They had so many stalls and so many things to go and see. They also had rides for the kids, they had farm animals and as well as a petting zoo for the little ones. There was also a a garden show, and an art and photography gallery. There were a lot of stands selling their stuff, they also had a héroes area. And I cannot forget they had a lot of food stands. The food was super expensive, so if you go there go with a fixed budget so you don’t overspend.
I grew up in San Diego and we attended the Del Mar fair just about every year. Last year was a truncated version of the fair but my grandson enjoyed it and that 's what mattered to us. It was nice to see it fully opened in 2022 but we noticed some changes. There was a stage missing around the fountain plaza and some of the exhibits had moved. Noticed there weren 't as many entertainers that roamed around as in years past. Guess it 's unreasonable to think that everything would return to normal as in pre pandemic times. Nonetheless, we were overjoyed to be able to attend the fair. Love the sights, sounds, and smells! At night it 's magical with its colorful illumination! Yes the price of food was over the top but we understand that these vendors are trying to recuperate losses from the pandemic. We still indulged. We had to have Pink 's chili cheese dogs, roasted corn, funnel cake, mini donuts, kettle corn, Tasti Chips, and last but not least, the venerable ubiquitous Hot Dog on a Stick with their fresh lemonade. We bought a bucket of Mom 's chocolate chip cookies to go! Yum! Thought we 'd try something new but we 're creatures of habit. Perhaps the next fair the OC Fair starts this month! I did not take as many photos because we had planned to return. I ended up being sick that day. Anyhow, I posted photos of the displays at the woodwork exhibit and paintings/drawings. Always in awe of all the talent! We strolled through the exhibit halls and the vendors are aggressive. I pretend I don 't speak English LOL! We absolutely enjoyed our visit. We enjoyed sitting in the garden area. The weather was perfect for this outing. We ended the night listening to an excellent cover band of 80s music called Equinox. They really sounded good made us stay longer than we anticipated. Looking forward to next year!
We had a great time at the 2022 san diego County fair in del mar. Monster trucks, good food, fun rides and all. We recommend getting a bundle at costco 4x adults , 40 tickets and parking ticket for 95.00, or buying ahead of time so that you may receive discounts
Always a must go during the summer months for the sights, sounds and tastes. Try the not so secret speakeasy called destination unknown for fun cocktails. The line starts right next to the “green flash” brewery with all the flamingos (opens at 3pm and you Don’t have to pay to get in and it’s Not cash only) You’ll get a wrist band and then make your way up to the top of the race track overlook. Everything is pricey but worth it for the day.
