The croissant are freshly baked in the house with this large crusty outer part and soft buttery middle. The best prosciutto was very good, fresh baguette with cheese, prosciutto and an apple jam and rocket. Perfect for feeling a baguette sandwich while running along the Sienne in Paris. The only thing I'm gonna say is that in Del Mar it's a bit expensive for what it is. But we will be worth the attempt and maybe a second attempt.
Not sure what happened today with our Mandel Croissant, but it was a little disappointing for our early morning for Mother's Day. Dry Croissant (days old? . Split the middle, but no almond paste, only the almonds above. At the price of $6.50 we would expect a well-made pastry. Food: 2/5
What a great way to spend the morning! I ordered:1. Kardamom latte- tasty, but not yet sold 100% on the cardamom...lol! It can be a polarizing taste, but I'm still on the fence. The caffeine was strong in this one.2. Kouign-amann: delicious! It is one of my favorite pastries of all time and this one has not disappointed. The egg cream in the middle was so decadent, and these butterfly layers are irresistable.3. Rosemary focaccia: What a deal! The whole foliage for under $10? I don't know if they were before, but I have the last. Ends it for lunch with a friend and we almost disappeared the entire bread. Rosemary and salt were divine. I will come back as often as I can get more from the Focaccia! The staff was incredibly sweet and informative! You also have a private parking space I love!
I like the espresso here and $7 croissants....They refused to warm other customers sticky bungalows. You said the oven was too hot. Perhaps you can afford an oven at the exorbitant prices that is enough? Or at least not all your pastries in front of an open door on freezing morning with the wind on the explosion. Could use some tweaks safely. I'd like to try a sandwich, but I don't care where this turkey comes from, I don't pay $15 for a pre-developed turkey sandwich.
Over priced and the baguette bread is not that great. I like Darshan as meeting point with some European friends when hanging out in Del Mar. I like the pre-made croissant sandwiches but too pricey and cold. I have tried all the pastries and the croissants are the best (not great as compared to other bakeries). I like the patio at the entrance with several tables and ocean views. Coffee drinks are ok. Again, I would expect more of what seems to be a French bakery but I am happy that it is there, in that location and a place to meet friends.
