Chin's Szechwan - DEL MAR

This was my first time trying Chin's, and I've heard a lot of good things about it. I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed! The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the salt and pepper wings, honey walnut shrimp, and tangerine chicken. I will definitely be ordering from here again soon!

I dined at Chins for the first time and it was outstanding! The service was fantastic. We began with the pork dumplings, which were the best I've ever tasted. After that, we enjoyed the Mongolian beef and shrimp lo mein. The portions were generous, and we ended up taking a lot of food home. It was just as delicious the next day. I highly recommend this place!

I was really let down by Chin's Szechuan. This restaurant has taken over the spot previously inhabited by Double Happiness, a beloved local staple known for American Chinese cuisine. When Double Happiness was sold to Chef Zhu a few years ago, the menu was expanded to include some delightful and authentic Shanghai dishes, which were absolutely fantastic! It was a true culinary delight... but then it all went downhill due to COVID-19. When Chin's opened, we hoped it would at least provide a decent local Chinese option. We’ve visited twice, and both times we faced bland, poorly prepared food that lacked any character. The first visit, I attributed the issues to typical growing pains of a new establishment. However, after my second visit, I ended up discarding my entree. Having lived in Del Mar for many years, it's disheartening to see a restaurant go from delicious to disappointing. I won't be returning.

Used to be Double Happiness Chinese Food. Chin's is a small franchise out of Escondido, North San Diego . Pretty much same food, newly renovated inside. Prices a bit higher, but, I'll continue eating there and send guests from my hotel.

I am not a fan of Chinese food, but this was amazing! very well presented and healthy Chinese food. will be coming here a lot. You have to try it know what I mean.
