Poppa Joe's Dairy - Deer Lake

Pretty good ice cream but the building isnt in the best location for parking and exterior has seen better years, also pricier compared with other ice cream options near town.

This place has been around a long time and is well known around town. It's something to look forward to when they open in Spring. They have a wide variety of flavors and serve both soft and hard ice-cream, sundaes, in a cone or in...a cup. Bring cash! There is no debit/credit system. There is also essentially zero parking, so you have to park across the street. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of. The staff have always been nice and courteous to us. I really feel they should put a little money back into the building. It's been around forever and it looks the same as it did years ago.

Pappa Joes is our favourite place to stop when our for an evening stroll. It is usually crowded on hot days. however the wait to be served is worth it. Get this, they even offer ice cream in “Gluten Free” Cones!! Our dog Rocky also...loves the soft serve ice cream as well so we let him finish off the bottom half of the cone or container.

From the outside, this building looks abandoned. It was only the flashing open sign that told us it was still running. Inside, the place is clean, clearly a favourite haunt for locals, and has a delicious selection of (local soft serve and hard ice creams....It was the best surprise we found in deer lake!

From Spring to Fall you can satisfy your craving or cool off with a Soft serve from Pappa Joes. There are so so many flavours to choose from. There are even gluten free varieties, and last I heard there are also gluten free cones as...well.
