Yami Sushi - Decatur

I ordered takeout from this sushi restaurant and got the 3 roll special and the orange crunch roll. I had been disappointed in the past with the orange crunch roll, but this time it was delicious and I would order it again. The sushi was tasty, nicely presented, and came with extra sides of sauce and utensils. I was very satisfied with my meal and will definitely order from here again, or possibly dine in next time.

I ordered chicken teriyaki. huh was dry, sauce was super watery and terrible. I've dried the chicken after 2 bites. sushi wasn't good either, but that was at least pale. the mistsuppe also tasted strange. I know they only takeout and short covid workers, but that was really bad.

The rice in the sushi rolls are very soggy and it just isn’t very good.

First time here since it was the closest sushi spot next to my university; I didn’t have high expectations since the interior looked pretty plain and it wasn’t busy, along with the other reviews.I ordered a simple cali roll and eggplant tempura. It was amazing!!The eggplant tempura was generously sliced into thick portion and perfectly fried; it wasn’t soggy or undercooked, and super crispy.The cali roll was such a great deal for 8pcs and the rice portion was really big, BUT the rice was just so fluffy and perfectly seasoned that it complimented the rest of the roll.The staff seem like a nice, small family. I will definitely come back to support this place again!!So glad to have such a great spot that I can walk to The prices are great too even though I know a lot of sushi places are currently struggling with supplier shortages. Good job, Yami sushi! Please support them by placing pickup directly. My food was ready in less than 10min!

Room temperature and bland food. Sure everything was there, but everything was lacking. The side of rice was the best part, but I can make that at home. My teriyaki beef was basically soup and barely any teriyaki flavor at all. The miso soup was missing seasoning, and we got a salad which was made with very minimal effort that anyone could make at home.
