Applebee's Grill - Decatur

Have I as a Muslim been discriminated against? I don 't think I 've ever left a bad review in my life, but I can 't overlook this. I 've been ordering carry out at this Applebee 's location for years. I 'm from a Christian background and I accepted Islam 5 years ago. I have an Applebee 's account on which is my name is Abdullah. Today I picked up my usual blackened shrimp alfredo on a lunch break and as I was eating, I took one bite of my breadstick and smelled what I recognized as the smell of bacon. I ignored it and continued with the pasta thinking that I had imagined this. As I finished my pasta, I picked up my breadstick and to my surprise their were two small pieces of bacon under it. What is the chances that this could have happened coincidentally?

So the first thing I noticed is that the employees must not be required to wear masks, because most were not, and those that were didn't wear them properly. The food didn't take long to come out but it was only lukewarm and just OK tasting. The ingredients weren't fresh at all. I ordered a smoothie and apparently the bar was backed up and it took forever...like I had pretty much finished my entire meal before it came. When it did come, it wasn't the flavor I ordered (ordered mango strawberry and only got mango), but I kept it and it was very good. I probably enjoyed that more than the meal.

Celebrated a Birthday the employees was working extra hard being short staffed. Great services considering the crowd.

Cherish handled my TO GO order and had an attitude the whole time. Didn't like that my call in order was wrong. Even though I didn't mind paying extra for the substitution. Then she tried to keep my change and when I requested it she said she didn't have it. When the manager told her to give me a $1.....ALL OF A SUDDEN she had the change. She was unprofessional from when I walked in to when I left. I wouldn't advise ordering with her. The location is still okay though!

10/19/22Update The atmosphere was good. The food was good and the HUGE long island I had was on point! We had the chicken tacos an the appetizer sampler. It was all good. The music was pumping like I was in a club. From now on , I 'm going in after 9pm. They do have specials each night of the week. It 's better at night, and our server, Summa was really good. She cocnt bother us too much but she checked on us s lot. Had a really good time this time. Memorial Drive location has gone down a lot! The music was bad, there were only 2 servers, 1 hostess and 1 bartender until 5pm. It took almost 2 hours for us to get our food. Some of the appetizers came out right. Nachos were ordered with no tomatoes and the server told us the kitchen made them, forgot about the no tomatoes and were picking them off . She has an allergy!!! And there were STILL tomatoes on it. The beer cheese was awful, the steak was supposed to be medium and they were both well done. I asked for my drink to be frozen but it came on the rocks with no salt, I also ordered a shot that came with no lemons or limes. The salmon was dry and our server was new. She was telling us what she didn 't know. Why the food was late She responded with, I don 't control the kitchen . We had to keep asking for things that should 've been given to us off hand, condiments, straws. She barely checked on us. Went to the restroom and the staff was hanging out by the kitchen, laughing and joking. The wallpaper is old and peeling off the walls. The hostess didn 't seat us at a larger table but at the only round table which was STILL too small. Although we had a large party, we offered to sit at 2 separate tables. The service was so slow that people that came in after us just left. It seemed as though they cared more about the take out orders than the people who were ACTUALLY there. Hopefully, some higher ups will fix the problems. If not, I won 't return to THIS location.
