The Empire Est 1950

We loved the first time we went, the food was amazing. However we went back and it was not such a great experience. The steak was so tough (almost uneatable). It was dry and really unpleasant. I could tell it was not a good cut of scotch, it had no fat marbling and was just a chunk of dry beef. The drinks were almost all filled with ice with a drizzle of cheap fizzy in the glass. So sad as we were hoping it would be our new spot Food: 2

Waited 45 minutes for coffees and a smoothie and an hour for food. Waiter was nice. Ordered a berry smoothie which was just strawberry nesquick for $12 : Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

Another place I like to dine in Petone. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the renovated Court yard is cosy and roomy. The food is impeccable. Price per person: NZ$100+ Food: 5 Service: 5
