Contribuiți la feedbackI don't get it. Why does this place have such good reviews? The restaurant does not feel clean; menu and table have the slight stickiness of old grease. This is probably caused by poor ventilation, the open kitchen, and the profuse use of oil. The air was stale and stinky from oil. All my clothes needed to be laundered. Everything was greasy, even the tea leaf salad. Beneath the oil, the salad was seasoned with an outrageous amount of burnt garlic and salt. The lemon grass chicken was bland, greasy and sloppy. The bell peppers in this dish still had their seeds, the chicken was indistinguishable mushy pieces of fired meat of questionable origin. The fried rice was pale, bland and full of oil.
We stopped by for a lunch. The service was attentive and we were taken good care of. The food is yummy and the portions are large. Almost enough for dinner. The coconut rice is especially good. Price wise the same feeling: maybe this is the new norm? $40 lunch?
Loved the tea leaf salad!Everything else was very flavorful and saucy. We loved the butter caviar rice w shrimp. My kid enjoyed fresh coconut and scraping the meat
Burma Eat is seriously great. The food is of excellent quality and there really isn't anything like it in town. I'm so glad that Davis has a restaurant like this because it is a complete breath of fresh air to the food scene here.Burma Eat is serves up Burmese food (obviously). If you're wondering what kind of dishes and flavors there are here, think a fusion of Thai, Indian, and other Asian tastes. The food is infused with a good amount of spice and flavor to really tantalize your taste buds. Many of the dishes have some spicy heat to them. One of my favorite items is the mint chicken. With a name like that you might think it has a minty fresh taste. Well... not really. The jalapeños.. in the dish really shine and give it a kick. It's not over the top hot, but the sizzle is there. I personally love it and get this dish any time I can.If you're looking for something lighter, there are a variety of salad options to try. The salads are also unique here. You're not going to find your traditional Cobb or Caesar. The salads are particularly good on hot Davis days when you can eat at their shaded patio. The menu has a ton of optionss and I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy when you visit. From noodle dishes to items that go great with rice (like the tender eggplant I had for lunch), there are many things choose from.Burma Eat is a little pricier than your traditional college town food. It took over the old Mikonos location before they moved a few store fronts down. The pricing is similar. It's well worth it for the quality and unique tastes that you find here!
I love this place. It is a favorite spot for me and my sisters, and we often go here for lunch and we always start with the tea leaf salad and fried yellow tofu. Never actually eaten inside as the patios are amazing year-round.
