Davidson college has some of the most beautiful and cleanest student and faculty buildings I've ever seen
Fitting the upscale hoity toity atmosphere of Davidson College, this room is more like a private country club lounge, or first class Airport club. The chairs are nailed down and cushy. Most students are glued to their laptops and wear earbuds, enabling them to ignore the social potential for interaction in such a place. The lighting is subdued, and there are numerous textures. No industrial feel here, like some tawdry community college. I find it kind of depressing that an educational institution puts so much emphasis on comfort and luxury for an elite few, which leaves them totally unprepared for dealing with real world struggles. But Davidson College has always given me the impression of wanting to keep its students from Davidson town. They have their own private gym facility, private library, private coffee shop, private theaters, etc. even though the Main Street, with its own amenities, is just a minute's walk away. It would be nice to see more student friendly services in the actual town, so both town and gown would find more opportunities for mixing and learning from each other. Except for the college store, which doesn't really interact with the public, though it's on one of the most desirable corners, the college seems intent on building more and more student only facilities on campus to compete with public town oriented businesses.
Great central hub for Davidson college students to study, eat, hang out, and interact
Always the most friendly people. Very patient, kind, and funny! You can tell they really love the students, and the food is so good, especially the pizzas and the Miss Vickie's Potato Chips
