Contribuiți la feedbackThe rooms were simple, but the food was delicious. The standout feature of this place is the staff, especially Jules. They were all very friendly and efficient, and couldn't do enough for us. The pub's best asset, for sure. Plenty of parking available and surprisingly peaceful despite its location on a busy road. Just a couple of suggestions - it would have been nice to have fruit juice offered with breakfast, and the server forgot to bring us milk with our pots of tea, but we think she may have been new.
We stayed here for a couple of nights. The room is tired and needs a good refurb but I understand that is happening soon. The room is a chalet style room away from the main building which I hadn’t realised I would have preferred a main building room but hey ho! The room was comfortable and basic but had everything in it that was needed. The shower was hot with excellent water pressure and the bed was comfortable. There was a kettle and plenty of coffee/tea and biscuits. For the price it was never going to be the Ritz but suited our needs for the time we were there. The breakfast was good. We opted for the Narrow Boat breakfast which was enormous. The staff were really friendly and welcoming so overall we had a good experience
We chose this pub/restaurant using a 'halfway between ' website to meet friends from Lichfield. The website looked promising, so we made a reservation. Unfortunately, the tables were sticky, likely from too much sanitizer. The menu was limited but had options for everyone, although the presentation of the food was lacking - particularly a disappointing lamb burger. My fish was overcooked, but we decided to push through after waiting a while for service. Desserts were decent, despite the odd choice of serving my ice cream on a hot plate. We're not picky eaters, just looking for good food at a fair price, and unfortunately, the prices here were high for the quality of the meal we received.
I went to this restaurant with my partner's family on Sunday, September 3rd. I ordered the Prawn and Salmon salad but asked for avocado instead of asparagus. Unfortunately, the kitchen brought out the wrong dish initially, the avocado and mango salad. After seeing the salad, which was just a plate of chopped leaves, I should have probably cancelled my order. When the correct salad finally arrived, there was very little salmon and no prawns to be found. The small amount of salmon that was included was stringy and of poor quality. The 'prawns' were more like shrimp, with only about 8 in total, which were not even close to a normal sized prawn. The salad also had some pieces that were browning and rotting. The staff did not seem concerned about the quality of the meal I received. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I reluctantly accepted it, but I left the restaurant feeling hungry and disappointed after spending £14 on a subpar meal. I urge you to avoid this place and dine elsewhere. I regret not taking photos to illustrate my experience.
Family group of 4 for lunch. Overall 3/4 were OK with our experience. The menu was somewhat limited to begin with and sadly there were a number of items unavailable which reduced the choice even more so we did struggle to find anything interesting. I decided to try the Vegan Steak (I'm not a vegan or veggie but always willing to try something different), when I asked what it was like I was told it was made from mushrooms and very similar to a normal steak in texture and flavour. I was SO disappointed when I was served up with a single chunk of Lions Mane Mushroom that looked like a soggy lump of cauliflower that had been charred on a grill, it had absolutely no flavour and was watery and mushy. In fact I would have been happier WITH a lump of cauliflower, at least it would have had some flavour and texture, how they managed to decide to call it a Vegan Steak is a joke and beyond me. Definitely not worth £15. Hopefully they change up the menu soon as I personally wouldn't bother again until they do.
